This is when NASA, after rigorous testing, qualified the Speedmaster for use on its piloted missions. Since then, it has been worn on all six lunar landings. In 1969 Buzz Aldrin first stepped on the moon, wearing a Speedmaster. This earned it the affectionate nickname of 'the Moonwatch'. Since its first release, little has changed in the design of this iconic watch.
