Unique watch of the Napoleon III era in a neoclassical style made of ivory. The porcelain dial, presumably from the royal manufacture of Sevres, is decorated with the image of a flying Cupid with a wreath and musical instruments. Time scale with Roman numerals on a gilded blue background in a gilded brass frame. The lower frieze is painted with oil paints, decorated with images of playing Cupids, musical instruments and flower garlands. The clock is mounted on an ivory pedestal decorated with decor. The mechanism is marked ''S. Marti & Cie - Bronze Medal and the badge Chameroy - 178.S. Marti was a famous watchmaker in the second half of the 19th century. S. Marti regularly exhibited his watches at exhibitions in Paris, where he received a Certificate of Honor in 1839, a bronze medal in 1860, a silver medal in 1889 and several gold medals (1841, 1851, 1852, 1900) between 1860 and 1900 years after the company received its bronze medal at the Paris Exhibition in 1860, the medal was indicated on the mechanism as a reward for quality. In the 1860s, the company collaborated with various famous French watchmakers, incl. Roux and Japy Frères. In the archives, Chameroy was listed among the Parisian watchmakers of the 19th century. During the inspection of the clock, a gift inscription was found on the inside of the pedestal with a closed brass plate - Wedding gift to Marie Dessarps... Dimensions: 50 x 37.5 x 23.5 cm. A 19thC Chinese export porcelain Punch Bowl, the rim with gilt and cobalt blue scale decoration, the body with sparse floral motifs all raised on foot, D29cm x H12cm, together with a 19thC Chinese porcelain Tureen, lacking cover, white ground with cobalt blue and gilt decoration, twisted handles, chipped, with central circular cartouches, L 32cm x W 21 x H 6.5cm, and an 18thC Chinese export porcelain Bowl, with blue and gilt banding and central urn motif, cracked and chipped, D 18cm x H 8.3cm, an 18thC Chinese export armorial porcelain Cup, damaged and repaired, with crest and monogram, H 6.5cm x D 9cm (4) Provenance - The Damien Parsons Collection. The property of the late John Damien Parsons, an East Devon architect and husband of poet Patricia Beer, whose interest in Asian Art was sparked after he inherited a few pieces of Chinese porcelain from his grandfather. Over many decades Parsons continued to add to the collection, sourcing Chinese and Japanese Ceramics and Works of Art from exhibitions and other collections. Pieces from the Parsons Collection were recently exhibited at Mount Edgcumbe.

Geology; Smith (William) 'A New Geological Map of England and Wales with the Inland Navigations exhibiting the Districts of Coal and other sites of Mineral Tonnage by William Smith, Engineer, 1824.' published J.Cary, 86 St. James's Str. Mar.18.1824, the engraved map with contemporary hand colouring, having been sectionalised into twenty and laid on linen, 64.5cm x 77cm, in retailer's slip case for C.Smith, no.172 Strand, rare, recognised as the 'Father of Geology' in 1815 William Smith was the first to map the geology of an entire nation, approx. 400 copies of this map were produced. It was reduced in scale in 1820, with copies of this map known to have been re-issued in 1824 (of which this is one), 1827 and 1828, it is unclear how many editions with these dates were produced.
