Frame with Trade Mark. Refreshed finishing. Hard-rubber, checkered grip scale and with monogram 'SW'. Serial number '128xx'. length 29.5 cm.
Set of six early 20th century Royal Worcester coffee cups and saucers, decorated with cartouche panels of exotic birds and insects on blue scale ground, painted by George Johnson, pattern no. 2136 (12) Condition Report Date codes - five cups & three saucers 1905. One cup & saucer 1907. Two saucers 1909. One saucer has two large cracks and crazing. Another two saucers having crazing. All others have the smallest of wear to the gilding. One cup has been heavily restored, two cracks are visible, exterior and interior painted. Another cup has a crack running all the way through and a broken handle, all have been repaired. Christo (b.1935) - A Pont Neuf workers uniform, manufactured by Williwear, the overshirt size L, the trousers size M, with authenticity card.Footnote: The Pont Neuf bridge in Paris was famously wrapped in woven polyamide fabric in September 1985 for fourteen days. This concept was masterminded by the conceptual artist Christo, who works on large-scale projects such as this.
A 1/48th scale model of the Hull trawler Kingston Jade H.149, scratch built by Mr L. Callan from plans, with wooden hull, planked deck and numerous deck fittings, 128cm long in fully glazed stained pine case with biographical plaques, 157cm wide, 63cm high, 35cm deep overall. The Kingston Jade was built at the Cook, Welton and Gemmel shipyard in Beverley and launched in October 1950. She was owned by the Kingston Steam Trawling Co. Ltd. of Hull which was founded in 1897 by a number of local fishing interests. All ships in the fleet were named after jewels with the Kingston prefix being added in the 1920s. In 1960 control of the company passed to Hellyer Bros. Ltd. of Hull. The Kingston Jade was sold for scrap in April 1975.
Bassett-Lowke - a fine 1:16 scale electrified display model of the Rhodesian Railways 4-6-4 + 4-6-4 Beyer-Garratt locomotive No.272, built circa 1939, complete with finely machined motion and running gear, full scale cab and back head fittings, fine pipework and external boiler fittings, lamps, running board mounted jacks, buck-eye couplings etc., finished in RR black livery, on show track display base.* Bassett-Lowke was commissioned by British locomotive builder Beyer-Peacock to make a 1:16 scale display model of No.272 for the directors of Rhodesian Railways in 1939. The model was completed but not shipped due to the outbreak of war. It was subsequently sent to Beyer-Peacock's valve making subsidiary, Richard Garrett at Leiston, Suffolk, where it was displayed until 1978. ** Sold at Christies South Kensington, 'Models Sale', 14th October 1988, Lot 67 to Ron Hickman OBE, designer of the Black & Decker Workmate and the Lotus Elan and Elan 2+2. Copy correspondence included between Mr. Hickman and The Long Shop Museum, Leiston, Suffolk and a copy invoice for restoration work by Bassett-Lowke, dated 1995. *** See 'The Bassett-Lowke Story, Raymond Fuller, p.108.
A Spode dark blue and gilt scale pattern two handled baluster vase and cover, early 19th century, with iron red Spode mark, No.1166, the cover with gilt bird finial, painted with in colours with sprays of mixed flowers within beaded borders, 15in. (38cm.) high, broken off just above base and reglued. * Provenance: Christie's at Upton House, nr. Banbury, Oxfordshire, 14th-15th October 1991, Lot 854.** Condition: Some moderate gilt wear to finial. Clean break (as described in catalogue) right through the base, going from just above to just below the girdle. Gilt wear to lions' noses, tops of handles and rim. Two short firing cracks to inside of rim (not visible to exterior) and two others similar to base of interior. Decoration very good with just a few small scratches to flowers.
