MALLOCH FISH: Rare Malloch of Perth River Tay cast salmon in glass roll front half barrel case 55"x22x9" makers label to top inner left of plaster base, hand painted to back, half block fish with internal legend "Killed by WRDC Burnbane, Devine 2/10/25 weight 40 lbs". Minor hairline cracks to underside of jaw structure, otherwise fine fish with good strong colour and scale effect. The "Burnbane Pool" on the River Tay is where Miss Ballantyne landed her record 64lb salmon after a reported 10-hour fight on Saturday October 7th 1922.
HARDY COMBINED GAFF & AND BALANCE: Rare Hardy all brass salmon gaff with integral weigh scale, a 2 draw gaff 15 to 35" long, steel hook, brass folding point protector stamped Hardy brothers, makers Alnwick, brass scale 0-40 lb attached to main handle tube also stamped with Hardy details, butt cap un screws to release spring balance steel weigh hook. Made by Hardy from an idea presented to them by Colonel S.H.N Johnstone, the gaff was sold c 1905, few ever seen, retaining virtually all original bronzing.
REEL & WINDER: An Albert Smith of Redditch 4" alloy narrow drum caged trotting reel, white tapered handles, 2 screw drum latch, side lever check and graduated adjuster control with scale to backplate, 4 spokes to underside of drum, fine, in card box and an early box wood line winder with central shot slide compartment in original leather covered fitted case.
