Pair Edwardian silver letter scales with engraved Royal crown B monogram to top, ivorine scale to front and drawer below on ball feet (hallmarked Birmingham 1906). The monogram may be that of Princess Beatrice (1857-1944) the daughter of Queen Victoria. Lots 9-26 belonged to Edward Moncur the steward to Earl Mountbatten of Burma who worked at Broadlands - the Earl`s country seat for twenty years. Lord Mountbatten also encouraged Edward Moncur`s son`s interest in stamp collecting by giving him stamps and envelopes from all over the world

Studies present include bridges warehouses docks quays and embankments. Also present is an engraving after Sir Christopher Wren`s original design for the rebuilding of London after the Great Fire of 1666. Designers include Ralph Dodd and Telford &Douglass the latter submitting an impressive project for a cast iron bridge spanning 600 feet amongst others..

Insurance Plan of Johannesburg fire insurance plans on a scale of 50ft to 1 inch detailing street names building numbers storeys and usages 16 plans only including title key plan numbered 1-16 with 2 duplicate index sheets with differing later overlays lithographed maps in original hand-colouring each sheet c.635 x 530mm. all inen-backed the last two sheets mounted back to back numerous later overlays some detached or working loose browning and dampstaining with associated losses particularly affecting corners and edges loose as issued London Montreal & Toronto 1895-1906 (17) ***Very rare. The circulation of these plans amongst insurance companies fire brigades and other interested parties was strictly controlled by Goad on a rental basis and apparently never sold. Gray of Worthing, to Malcolm Frost designs with castings by MJ Engineering of Ringwood, the two speed general purpose engine of twin compound design with a copper boiler, the fittings including a water gauge, pressure gauge, safety valve, blower, clack and blowdown valves, the drain cocks operated from the cab, with copper pipework, mechanical lubricator, crosshead guides, Stephenson`s link reverse, eccentric driven feed pump and bypass, solid flywheel with wooden block brake, and Pickering type governor, the chassis details including spoked straked wheels with rubber road tyres, worm and roller chain steering, damper, cable drum with fairleads, hand brake to back wheels, fitted belly tanks and supported canopy, finished in green and black paintwork with polished brightwork, 74cm (29 inches) long.
