A VERY RARE MASSIVE PAINTED STUCCO HEAD OF GUANYINYuan/early Ming DynastyThe head boldly modelled as the powerful deity and brightly coloured, wearing an elaborate five-peaked Buddhist tiara set with large flowerheads flanking a small seated Buddha on the central peak, the tiara heavily gilt overall, the dark-blue hair grooved in tight loops sweeping symmetrically across her forehead and around the back of her head, her complexion and ear lobes brick-red, her small pursed lips scarlet, the face with an impassive expression and the eyes cast meditatively downwards, metal stand.67cm (26 3/4in) high, with stand 79cm (31in) high.
