A set of bronze and gilt-bronze equestrian fittings comprising: a domed chamfron panel with scalloped edges, tubular plume-holder, incised scale detailing; two curved side plates matching the edges of the chamfron; a teardrop plate with rivets to the upper edge; a pierced disc with two rivets; thirty slightly domed discoid scales from the barding each pierced close to the rim. See Curtiss, J. & Tallis, N. The Horse from Arabia to Royal Ascot, London, 2012. 790 grams total, 44-134mm (1 3/4 - 5 1/4"). Property of a West London gentleman; acquired on the German art market in 20100. The horse furniture is said to be associated with the ????? ??? ???????? (Varangian Guard), a Byzantine elite unit which served as the Emperor's personal bodyguard in the 11th-14th century. It was drawn initially from the Kievan Rus and from Scandinavian adventurers. In the years following the Norman invasion of England in 1066, the Guard was increasingly composed of dispossessed English noblemen. By the 13th century, although the guard still existed as a military unit, it was recruited from the local Greek and other populations. [35] Fine condition.

Boxes worn, front bumper of Light 8 model slightly loose, finish on this and the front grill lights and rear bumper, interior of wheels not chromed to the same degree as the other two models, three of the tires have slight splits.

CONDITION REPORT: Provenance: The Ed Clark Collection. Boxes worn, the special issue model with large chip to the paint work to the front left above the front bumper, the front bumper is also loose, the rear bumper is slightly loose, the other two models with loose rear bumpers, the light blue model with slightly loose front bumpers, the light blue model front bumper at an angle, this model also has some small dents to the right sides possibly present from manufacture and sits slightly low so does not roll quite properly.

CONDITION REPORT: Provenance: The Ed Clark Collection. Boxes worn, the plain silver and light blue models with slightly loose front and loose rear bumpers, the silver model with the grey detail an under section somewhat concave, the rear wheels are not sitting in correct position, the weight is low to the rear end and as such the rear wheels aren't spinning and the model does not roll, this will need attention.

CONDITION REPORT: Provenance: The Ed Clark Collection. Boxes heavily worn, one of the coupés with loose front bumper, the other two slightly loose front bumper, two of the coupés with loose rear bumpers and one with slightly loose rear bumper, neither of the Turnpike Cruisers roll very smoothly and both sit slightly down toward the rear end, the rear wheels don't run smoothly.

All boxes heavily worn, one box unmarked, the green and one of the bronze models and one of the bronze are lacking the mascots and the same grey model with losses to paintwork and further black marks to cream roof, the other models appear ok.
