A good late 17th/early 18th century Augsburg pocket gilt-brass and silver pocket sun and moon dial compass/sundial by Johan Martin in Augsburg 48 (Johannes Martins 1642-1721) of octagonal form with hinged plump bob support, centred with a compass basin, the silver hour plate with outer scale IIII - XII - VIII engraved 'Horizontale Solis & Lunare', signed to the reverse and with the latitudes of sixteen cities, on three silver feet, 6.5 x 6.3 cm - in original chamois lined leather case.
