Nelson Mandela General Strike - Scarce Early Mandela Publication This is the original highly important 16pp. pamphlet written by Mandela and constitutes `A Report of the 3-Day Strike in South Africa on May 29, 30, and 31, 1961`, which coincides with the proclamation of the Republic of South Africa. Pre imprisonment Mandela items are as scarce as hen`s teeth. Journal/magazine articles exist but are seldom encountered. But solo Mandela items are highly sought after and rare. This copy is in lightly used but intact stapled integral paperwraps, which have a light crease from folding. It was published by Mandela himself as Honorary Secretary of the All-In-African National Action Council. The closing paragraph reads: `The strike at the end of May was only the beginning of our campaign. We are now launching a full-scale, countrywide campaign of non-cooperation with the Verwoerd Government, until we have won an elected National Convention, representing all the people of this country, with the power to draw up and enforce a new democratic constitution`. A most important document - it would take 33 years, 27 of which would be spent in prison, for his aims to be achieved!
