An exhibition quality 1/12th scale model of a fully working cross compound mill engine with drop piston valve jet condensing and Corliss exhaust valves. Circa 1905 built from the designs of A Haworth plans by MAP. Brass bound blue polished steel cladding to cylinders high pressure 1in bore and low pressure 1 3/4in bore each with three cast iron ringed pistons stroke 2 3/4in floor mounted start/stop valve. Fish bellied connecting rods with taper wedge adjustment 8in by 4in 18 groove flywheel with hard barring holes fitted with individual wedge shaped windage boards keyed to crankshaft. Main bearing pedestals big end bearing and eccentric straps all with sight feed drip lubricators. Bevel gear drive cam shaft to operate drop valve gear. Gear driven porter type governor with hydraulic damper and overspeed trip safety latch adjustable ballast weight for speed control governor controls HP index valves studded stuffing box glands on piston rods low pressure cylinder driven Edwards type air and condensation extractor pump with adjacent jet condenser fitted with tail slide manual adjustment on low pressure inter trip valves. All mounted on a cast alloy base simulated stone base with a floor finished grey maroon and red. Base board 76cm by 61cm pressure gauges boiler 0-120psi low 0-80psi and vacuum 0-30.

A finely engineered 5in gauge GWR 51xx Class ‘Large Priarie’ 2-6-2 locomotive built at 1 1/16in scale using works drawings. Silver soldered copper super heated boiler. Belpaire firebox. Boiler feed by twin injectors and auxiliary hand pump in side tank. Outside cylinders with Stephenson’s valve gear actuated by pole reverser in cab drain cocks lever operated from cab. The locomotive is highly detailed with lamp irons screw couplings comprehensively fitted scale backhead prototypical sight feed lubricator in cab rivet detail to bunker and tanks. Finished in Great Western livery. Boiler certificate F1/289/2004. Haudraulic test pressure 135psi. Working pressure 90psi. Certificate valid until 22nd of May 2006.

The model finished in green and red paintwork with brass edging. 101cm long in total. Past boiler history. Southern Federation of Model Engineering Societies boiler test certificate No.6838. Expired the 24th of May 2002.

Engine details. Cylinder bore size 1 5/8in slide valve no reverse gear oil pump to cylinder via engine water pump on engine hand pump by-pass with single speed chain drive to rear axle. Chassis details include worm and quadrant operated steering pneumatic rubber tyres on wooden spoke wheels working leaf springs water tank fitted. The model of flatbed design and finished in green and black paintwork. 51cm wide 162cm long. Boiler history. Southern Federation of Model Engineering Societies Boiler test certificate No 12521. Expires 20th of April 2006. Issued by Newton Abbott ME. Test pressure 160psi. Working pressure 80psi.

A Pride of Penrhyn steam lorry to 1/5th scale from Modelworks castings built by Arthur Green to a very high standard. The lorry finished with red chassis black smoke box and chimney with red and blue cab. 20in high 16in wide 48in long. Cylinders 32mm and 38mm with trunk guides shaft pump handpump injector Stepenson’s valve gear sight glass pressure gauge safety valve blow-down valve blower fusible plug mechanical lubricator chassis with water tank mud guards and rubber tyres fitted. Copper boiler with original boiler certificate from ModelWorks International Ltd Number 307 and dated the 21st February 2006. Hydraulic tested to 200 psi. Working pressure 90 psi. Run on air but never steamed.

A finely engineered 6in scale model of a Foden ‘C’ type steam waggon built by Eric Lindsay being a scaled up version of the well known Terry Morris 3in design and incorporating some 80 castings from the patterns made by Chris Lord. This is believed to be only the sixth model made from these patterns. The engine is a full compound twin cylinder unit operating at 220psi and with fully operational simpling valve and exhaust bypass valve. The wagon has three road speeds chain drive hydraulic front brakes and pneumatic tyres. The cab and dropside body are coachpainted in crimson with the chassis and wheels in red and with black details. The boiler manufactured by Bell Boilers of Gloucester is tested to 330 psi with working pressure of 220 psi and carries a test certificate valid until 2008. It is fed by both water pump and injector. The wagon weighs some 1200kg and is 3800mm long. It is registered for use on the road (reg no. WV 02 APU) and is capable of speeds in excess of 25mph. Boiler test certificate available for inspection with the auctioneers. This lot attracts a lower Buyer’s Premium rate.

The wagon finished in lined blue livery and sign written ‘Loggerheads’ Timber Merchants ‘Molly’. It has been taxed for road use in the past. Some boiler history available but no current certificate. Cab 33in high 26 1/2in wide 86in long.

A partly constructed 1/5th scale model of the steam wagon ‘Pride of Penrhyn’ together with the kits to complete the model as supplied by ModelWorks. The chassis has been completed with wheels fitted solid tyres steering wheel with linkage brake fitment and gear linkage to back axle. This item has come from a deceased estate so we are unable to guarantee that all parts are present however all parts are available from ModelWorks International Sales Ltd of Royal Oak Daventry. Engine details include cylinder approximately 1in bore x 1 1/2in stroke drain cocks with operating lever ratchet mechanical lubricator trunk type crosshead guide Stephenson’s link reverse eccentric driven feed pump and bypass two road speeds and spoked flywheel. Pickering type governor chassis details include spoked straked wheels worm and roller chain steering spud pan damper cable drum fairleads water lifter hand brake to second shaft wooden footboard and tool box. The model is finished in red and black paintwork with polished steel brightwork. 16 1/2in by 26in (42cm x 66cm). Sold together with a collection of photographs of the build and ‘Model Engineer’ magazines with features on constructing this model.

A George III mahogany stick barometer, paper regiser, signed Stenson, Derby, moulded cornice and sliding cistern cover, 94cm high, c.1800. John Stenson (1747-1817) was a larger-than-life figure in his day. A self-proclaimed Scientist, Weatherglass Maker, Tenor and Musician he was generally regarded as a most upright and punctual man as well as an eccentric one, bathing daily in the Derwent into old age. He was the son of Joseph Stenson, a Derby framework-knitter and was apprenticed to the celebrated John Whitehurst FRS from 1761-1768, after which he worked for his old master until 1778 when he set up shop in Bag Lane, in Derby (now East Street). His earlier barometers used Whitehurst's unique 0-60 scale and he was also a manufacturer of saccarometers, hygrometers, spirit levels and electrical pistols .
