An antique Chinese doucai enamelled porcelain bottle vaseprobably 19th century, the ovoid body with tapering elongated neck with swollen knop below the everted rim, decorated in doucai and famille rose enamels with flowers, fruits and auspicious objects over underglaze blue, the neck and knop with similar decoration on a green scale and iron red ground respectively, on a short waisted foot, double concentric circles to base, 17.5in. (44.5cm.) high, repaired chip to rim.
A Borneo head hunters sword, 19th / early 20th century, horn handle with animal hair finish to end, holding a steel blade with hammered decoration, the segmented wooden scabbard finished with fish scale and scroll paint work augmented with patches of animal hair, strung from the scabbard are twenty seven teeth, missing smaller dagger, 23½in. (59.7cm.) long.* It is reputed that the number of teeth on a head hunters sword represents the number of heads collected with the weapon.

Containing Sixty Eight Acres, and Thirty three perches Meafured by me Jared Hill. Surveyor, 1716, Total 68:0:33", with decorated compass points and "A Scale of Rods", with later light pencil annotations to main map and ink annotations to left margin, the last being for Lady Day 1750, 17ins x 25ins (laid down on linen - some damage), framed and glazed Note: An example of Hill's work as Surveyor was sold by The Canterbury Auction Galleries -18/03/2008 - Lot No. 242. The National Archives have an interesting example if his work - "Old Bolingbroke Estate Map, Lincolnshire", dated 1719, under image library reference MPC 1/118
