dating: about 1855 provenance: Paris, Octagonal, rifled, 8 mm cal. barrel, signed 'Houllier Blanchard à Paris', browned and finely engraved at the base and at the nozzle, with foresight; engraved and browned six-shot cylinder, with serial number '13xx'. Lock plate engraved and with the same serial number. Flat hammer. Lever to quickly remove the barrel and change the cylinder. Folding trigger. Saw-butt with checkered and carved wooden grips. Kept in a burgundy velvet-lined wooden case, with a (defective) iron ramrod/nipple wrench and a rare brass powder-tester with scale wheel and wooden grip. Exemplaren auf "vélin de chiffon" (GA 183). - Das erste eindrucksvoll vom englischen Bildhauer und Künstler Henry Moore illustrierte Werk. Der Text von Goethe in der Übersetzung von André Gide, der 1947 den Literaturnobelpreis erhielt. »Like his sculpture, his lithographs achieve monumentality while remaining small in scale« (Eleanore M. Garvey). - Sauber und wohlerhalten. Gutes Exemplar. With a cover lithograph, 8 large-format full-page lithographs, and 7 lithographic vignettes by Henry Moore. - The first impressively illustrated work by the English sculptor and artist Henry Moore. The text of Goethe in the translation of André Gide, who received the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1947. "Like his sculpture, his lithographs achieve monumentality while remaining small in scale" (Eleanore M. Garvey). - Clean and well preserved. Good copy.
Berlin - - Sammlung von Dokumenten zum Bau der Berliner U-Bahn. Mit 12 Seiten Manuskript und 7 mehrfach gefalteten Plänen (je in photomechanischer Reproduktion). Ca. 1895/1900. 4°. Die Pläne gebunden, zsm. mit Manuskript lose in zeitgenössische Leinenmappe mit DVignette eingelegt (diese etw. stärker berieben u. beschabt, Rücken mit kl. Einrissen). Das Manuskript beginnt: "Zur Ergänzung der von mir am 25. September eingereichten Zeichnungen und Beschreibungen." - Die großen Pläne (aufgefaltet je ca. 43 x 62 cm) zeigen die Durchgangsstationen Moabit, die Bahnhöfe Potsdamer Platz, Friedrichstrasse, Leipzigerstrasse und Spittelmarkt. Enthalten sind zudem ein Plan mit den "Verfahren für den continuierlichen Tunnelbau" sowie ein Plan mit Zeichnungen mechanischer Details. Der Maßstab je 1:10.000. - Eröffnet wurde die Berliner U-Bahn 1902 als Hoch- und Untergrundbahn für den Personenverkehr. Zunächst meist noch oberirdrisch ausgeführt, wurden nur der Bahnhof Potsdamer Platz mit einem kurzen davor liegenden Tunnelstück und die Strecke auf Charlottenburger Gebiet mit ihren Bahnhöfen Wittenbergplatz und Zoologischer Garten unterirdisch ausgeführt. - Etw. knickspurig, die Karten tls. mit kl. Einrissen in der Falz, insgesamt wohlerhaltene und spannende Sammlung an Dokumenten. Collection of documents on the construction of the Berlin subway. With 12 pages of manuscript and 7 multiple folded plans (each in photomechanical reproduction). The plans bound, together with the manuscript loosely inserted in a contemporary cloth portfolio with vignette on the cover (which is somewhat more rubbed and scuffed, spine with small tears). - The large plans (unfolded each approx. 43 x 62 cm) show Moabit, the Potsdamer Platz, Friedrichstrasse, Leipzigerstrasse and Spittelmarkt stations. Also included are a plan with the "Verfahren für den continuierlichen Tunnelbau" and a plan with drawings of mechanical details. The scale of each is 1:10,000. - The Berlin subway was opened in 1902 as an elevated and subway line for passenger traffic. Initially still mostly constructed above ground, only the Potsdamer Platz station with a short tunnel section in front of it and the line on Charlottenburg territory with its stations Wittenbergplatz and Zoologischer Garten were constructed underground. - Somewhat creased, the maps partly with small tears in the fold, overall well-preserved and interesting collection of documents.
