An early 20th century mahogany cased brass and black lacquered sextant by H Hughes & Son of London, the scale numbered 17016, patent 2274/28, with ivory adjusting knob and the National Physical Laboratory in Teddington label, length 23cm, lacking key, with additional lenses. CONDITION REPORT: The sextant has been kept in a box for many years, locked in the case with no key, therefore to be able to access it we had to unscrew the top of the lid, the main body with several areas of green residues throughout, traces of wear and areas of flaking to lacquering, particularly to the attached scope/lens. The sextant is in poor condition with splits, missing parts and heavy mould.
A 19th Century Combination Knife and Percussion Pistol, possibly by Unwin & Rodgers, the 8.6 cm nickel silver barrel stamped Birmingham proof marks, the underside with concealed, hinged trigger and two knife blades (one lacking), horn grip scales, hinged compartment to rear One knife blade lacking. Two tools, formerly fitted within the horn grip scales also lacking. Small broken section and repair to one horn grip scale adjacent to tool fitting. General signs of wear commensurate with age and use.
