A one and a half inch scratch-built scale model of an Allchin traction engine, titled "The Royal Chester", made by J.H.Lynam, 44 cms. high, 64 cms. long; painted bodywork, no boiler certificate, with photograph and diploma of merit awarded by the Nottingham Society of Model and Experimental Engineers.
An unusual Swiss silver combined pocket barometer and keyless lever watch, the enamelled dial to the centre inscribed SWISS MADE, the outer silver scale WATCH BAROMETER PATENT, the backplate stamped with circular trademark and No1450, in engine turned case with Swiss control marks, No8951854, in scarlet morocco travelling case, signed for Benzie High Street Cowes, c1900. In excellent "as new' condition and apparently good working order the barometer reacting to pressure changes, the morocco case rather worn, the strut at the back detached, the looped handle broken.
A George III mahogany thermometer, the arched brass foliate engraved scale of 10 to 130 degrees signed at the head Saml Sanders Maker beneath a ribbon inscribed Fahrenheit's Thermometer within an egg-and-dart fillet and break-arch case, the fluted base carved with a shell and acanthus leaves, 65cm h. The cornice lacking but in otherwise excellent original and unrestored condition, the tube undamaged and charged with mercury
Two Royal Worcester vases, the violet vase decorated with wild flowers, enriched with gilding on an apricot ground, the panel vase in pale blue and gilt scale work with shaded apricot fluting, 8 & 9. 5cm h, printed mark, rd nos, 991 or 1801 respectively, date code for 1906 or 1897 . A fine and exceptional Ferlach .375 H & H magnum over and under boxlock ejector rifle, no. 2367.76. 25.5-inch barrels with ramp foresight, machined short raised rib with fixed sight and mounted with a Zeiss Diavari 1.5-6x42 telescopic sight, kersten bolt extensions, gold lined breeches, the profusely engraved action with dummy sideplates and top-lever lined with gold, the left side deeply carved and engraved with scenes of buffalo and lions in a bush scene, the right side with antelope in bush scenes, the breeches with scrolling serpents amongst foliate scrolls, set front trigger, non-automatic safety catch, 14.5-inch highly figured stock with cheekpiece and rubber recoil pad, the pistol grip and three piece fore end carved with scale chequering, grip cap engraved with gold initials, Austrian nitro proof. 10lb. 12oz.
An early 19th century mahogany domestic medicine chest, the hinged lid marked 'Stock London' to an ivory plate revealing glass spouted mortar and pestle, tumbler, brass tweezers and blood letting blades in cases, the front of the chest with door enclosing six clear glass bottles and six labelled drawers below, the reverse enclosing twelve further bottles, with side brass handles on bracket feet, 27cm wide, 23cm deep, 28cm high; and an apothecary's balance scale in Japanned tin case, 13cm wide (2)
A Pair of Table Globes, Dudley Adams, 1795, each with cartouche inscribed "To His Most Secred Majesty George The Third King of Great Britain & c This new Globe of the earth Correctly laid down according to ye best Observations & latest Discoveries Is most humbly inscribed By His Majestys most dutiful & obliged Subject & Servant Dudley Adams", the celestial inscribed "...containing all ye Southern Constellations lately observed at the Cape of Good Hope & all the stars Flamsteds British Catalogue ... made by D. Adams Globe Maker to the King & Optician to HRH The Duke of York, No.60 Fleet Street, London 1795", each 12in (30.5cm) diameter celestial and terrestrial globe made up of two sets of twelve hand-coloured engraved split gores (the celestial laid to the ecliptic pole), the equatorial graduated in degree, hours and minutes, the colures ungraduated, the ecliptic graduated in days of the month, the constellations depicted by mythical beasts and figures as well as scientific instruments, the gilt meridian circle divided on one side to each degree, with oak horizon and hand-coloured engraved paper graduated in degrees and showing compass directions, zodiac (with pictures, names and sigils) calendar scale and compass directions, also days of the month with Saints' days, on four quadrant supports upon three swept legs (both lacking compass/stretchers), {59cm (23.25in) high overall} (both A/F, terrestrial globe badly split/several crudely restored areas, faded and discoloured/varnish worn, the celestial globe punctured near Southern Polar region, otherwise similar to preceding)
