Russell of Fraserburgh from Rudy Kouhoupt drawings, static model with no boiler fitted (the motion could be run on compressed air), of traditional design, with single cylinder having crosshead guide and linked to open crank with eccentric driven air valve, worm and chain steering with wood burning storage boxes to the back, finished in green and black livery. Length 40cm. Width 16cm. Overall height 22cm.
A well-engineered 1 ½ inch scale model of a 'Royal Chester' Allchin Traction engine, with single cylinder, being a two speed general purpose engine. The engine has a copper boiler with fittings including water gauge, pressure gauge, safety valve, blower, clack and blowdown valves. Engine details include cylinder approximately 1 inch bore x 1 ½ inch stroke, drain cocks with operating lever, ratchet mechanical lubricator, trunk type crosshead guide, Stephenson's link reverse, eccentric driven feed pump and bypass, two road speeds and spoked flywheel. Pickering type governor, chassis details include spoked straked wheels, worm and roller chain steering, spud pan, damper, cable drum, fairleads, water lifter, hand brake to second shaft, wooden footboard and tool box. Silver soldered copper boiler, 100 psi working pressure, Ramsbottom type safety valves, injector, mechanical pump. Fittings include pressure gauge, water gauge and whistle. Single cylinder, EN24T steel crankshaft, Stephenson's valve gear, mechanical lubricator. Two speed, winch behind nearside rear wheel, rubber tyres fitted to road wheels. Boiler History: Boiler number GG42, built 2007. Southern Federation certificate C161525, Kinver & West Midlands Society of Model Engineers. A well-engineered working model of a one-third scale single-occupant vehicle built to represent a World-War Two M10 Tank Destroyer, built by Mr P Purser of Essex with the assistance of his brother, over a 10-year period, both being professional engineers and being built in their spare time. It is believed that a model of this type and size is unique in the UK. Capable of speeds in excess of 15mph. Attracting considerable attention wherever it has been displayed and demonstrated, the vehicle was last showcased in 2017 at the Tank Museum in Dorset. Constructed in steel, aluminium and glass-fibre; and powered by two 125cc air-cooled engines, this vehicle has completely independent drive to each track, making it highly manoeuvrable and with the ability to turn within its own length. This vehicle can be easily transported in a regular-sized ‘Transit’-type van. A transportation security bracket is also included which could, if desired, be used for towing small trailers. The vehicle is offered with a comprehensive range of spares, including a still-boxed engine, carburettor and engine electrics. An extensive library of build photographs and construction documentation is also available. Video footage of the vehicle when first displayed in 2016, and during firing trials last year, can be found on YouTube by searching ‘Large scale M10 Achilles tank’. A fine Kingscale Gauge 3 live steam streamliner model of a LMS Princess Coronation Class 4-6-2 tender locomotive No 6227 ‘Duchess of Devonshire’, the silver soldered copper boiler being gas fired and of multi-flue design with fittings including pressure gauge, water sight-glass, regulator and folding cab-side doors. Other features include cylinder drain pipes, sprung axles, axle pump, hand pump and lubricator. The model built in 1/22 scale and finished in crimson and gold lined livery. Total length 103cm. Cab width 13cm. Boiler History: Boiler number SC012. Gas tank number SCG012. Boiler constructed in September 2014. Original boiler hydraulic test certificate from Silver Crest Models Ltd. The single cylinder horizontal steam engine with trunk guide, blued cylinder lagging with polished brass oiler, open crank with 9 ½ inch spoked flywheel, eccentric driven steam valve, belt linkage to eccentric driven vertical water pump, horizontal boiler with fitted pressure gauge, water sight-glass, whistle and a fitted compressed air inlet for display purposes. Stand width 80cm. Depth 52cm. Height 85cm. Overall height 190cm.
An exhibition quality 1 inch scale model of a live steam Sanderson Beam Engine Glasgow circa 1846, built by Mr D R Carter of Minehead Somerset. and being of 12 horse power design with single cylinder 2 ½ inch stroke x ⅞ inch bore and having outside steam valve linked to eccentric on the open crank and fitted speed governor with bevel gears and shut off valve, single spoked flywheel 9 ¾ inch diameter. The model finished in terracotta and blue paintwork and mounted on pine display plinth with aluminium edge 51cm x 31cm. Total height 35cm.
