A Rosewood case having brass protective corners and an inset brass plate to the lid, opening to reveal within a Compensated Marine/Ship's Barometer by Short and Mason Ltd., London. The silvered dial appearing in excellent condition, the lower right knurled brass wheel geared to rotate the outer scale and doing so with a little resistance. To the upper left is a similar knurled wheel which is actually a screwdriver/turn-key having a blued steel blade, whilst the remaining two knurled wheels are the screw-down mountings for the instrument. It has been noted that over the last few days the atmospheric pressure indicated has changed from 29.15 to 30.5 inches, which appears to serve to indicated that the instrument is operating as would be anticipated. The instrument dial measures 5" diameter and the case dimensions are 6 1/2" x 6 1/2" x 3 1/4" high approximately.
