An 18th Century Chinese porcelain rectangular meat plate with shaped rim, enamelled in colours in the “Famille Rose” manner with three floral sprays within pink scale and turquoise flower pattern borders, 16.5ins x 13.5ins (with hairline crack and chip to rim), and a Chinese porcelain circular bowl, the exterior decorated in gilt with floral and scroll ornament on a royal blue ground, 12ins diameter x 5ins high (gilding badly rubbed - both Qianlong period)
Circle of Felice Rizzo, called Felice Brusasorci or Brusasorzi, b.Verona 1539/40-1605- Venus punishing Cupid, oil on slate, oval, Note: The overall treatment and handling of this painting can be compared closely to a similar oil on slate by the artist, titled "Lot And His Daughters" and stylistically to an example in the Boston museum "Dead Christ mourned by Angels", the strong mannerist figures and composition showing the influences after a short stay in Florence. Comparable treatment notably in the definition of the hair, faces and characterisation of the figures. As with most of the late 16th century Veronese artists Brusasorci worked on large commissions and small scale copper and slates for a distinguished private clientele. (LP)
