A late 18th to early 19th Century micromosaic rectangular plaque of Minerva Medica's Temple with a figure in the foreground, after the painting by Carlo Labruzzi (1748-1817), the fine monochrome tesserae inset into a copper plate, length 6cm x 3.5cm. Notes: The ruined appearance of the Temple of Minerva Medica, Rome was a popular subject amongst artists who often featured it as the focal point in panoramic views. Carlo Labruzzi is principally remembered as a gifted vedutista (highly detailed, usually large scale painting) who recorded monuments of ancient Rome and scenes from the Roman countryside.
