Tiffanie Delune Moments with Self I, 2021 Mixed Media on Paper Signed verso 15 x 10cm (5¾ x 3¾ in.) Tiffanie Delune is a Paris-born visual artist with a multi-media practice, living and working in London. Expanding from an initial focus on personal trauma and childhood experiences, her practice is instinctively embarking on a wondering wandering. She weaves apparitions in dreams and travel recollections with symbols of her mixed-race family, hints of femininity and flux of spirituality. Navigating between her shadow self and full of light, movement and energy forms, Tiffanie is interested in the magic of storytelling that engages conversations and evokes emotions. Approaching her work with playfulness and an intuitive curiosity, she creates multilayered pieces on cotton canvas, loose linen and smaller pieces of paper; inviting for a dialogue between the scale and the subject. Letting go of any inhibitions in the choice of materials, she longs for textures, meanings and a sense of memory - from acrylic, pastels and papers to glitter, threads, loo roll, keys, bags and dried flowers. In a conflicted world that feels deeply saturated, she puts a special emphasis on sharing a blended, unfiltered narrative in all its depth and authenticity. Self-taught, Tiffanie has fully emerged herself into her practice with daily rituals and creative challenges. Her work has since been exhibited in London, Paris, Lagos and Los Angeles; featured on Forbes, BBC Radio London, Contemporary And, The Financial Times and Artsy; and is held in the permanent collections of the Fondation Gandur pour l'Art in Geneva, Switzerland as well as the New-York Presbytarian Hospital for Women and Newborns in New York City. "The natural world is center stage to my creativity from constellations to the seas, tales of the African Motherland and visions of hope - untouched places without any form of conditioning, birthing a boundless sense of being. Blooming shapes and rich colours give life to unique characters and dreamscapes that infinitely dance between independence and sexuality, strength and vulnerability, stillness and vitality.   Exhibitions   Solo Shows 2020 Seeds Of Light, Curated by Katherine Finerty, The Gramophone Works, London 2019 Metamorphosis, Someth1ng Gallery, London 2018 Coloriosity, 16/16, Lagos   Group Shows 2021 Art On A Postcard for International Women's Day, London 2021 In The Midst Of All That Is, Curated by Terrell Tilford, Band Of Vices, Los Angeles 2020 Art X Lagos, Lagos 2020 Art On A Postcard for International Women's Day, All Bright Mayfair, London 2019 Contemporary African Art, Piasa, Paris 2019 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair, Somerset House, London 2018 Portraits of Animals, H Factor, Lagos   Gallery Representation   Ed Cross Fine Art

Mercedes Helnwein Shelia, 2021 Oil Pastel on Paper Signed verso 15 x 10cm (5¾ x 3¾ in.) Mercedes Helnwein is a visual artist and writer, born in Vienna, Austria. She moved to Ireland and the US with her family in her teens, consciously choosing not to attend art schools. Heavily inspired by American culture, her work is known for its large scale oil pastels, predominantly populated by nurses, beauty queens, witches, girl gangs, cheerleaders, bridesmaids, and the visual theatrics of American adolescence.   Exhibitions/Awards Her first art shows were self-instigated, one-night events in Los Angeles often with one or two other inexperienced young artists, most commonly photographer Alex Prager. Sponsored by various alcoholic beverage companies, magazines, and unlikely supporters such as Land Rover, these shows generated a surprisingly genuine response and enabled Helnwein to continue developing her ideas, styles and experimenting with her interests and themes. She exhibited regularly in Los Angeles during this period at the Merry Karnowsky Gallery, as well as in Europe, steadily garnering interest and collectors, amongst them Damien Hirst, who bought out a London show. With her series "Asleep in the Wind" Helnwein broke from the primarily pencil-focused style of her early work, moving onto large-scale formats and experimenting with oil pastel as a medium. In 2015 she further developed her work in this direction with "Living Room Fire", expanding into a wider range of media and delving deeper into the theme of American living rooms and the "almost normal" activities of its characters. Film and photography has also long been an integral part of Helnwein's work, whether behind the scenes as reference material or in the forefront with films for her exhibitions, such as the "Cops and Nurses" film in 2013. In 2017 she had a solo exhibition at the Edward Hopper House, Nyack NY, with her series "Chaos Theory". Followed by her show "Jerks and Soulmates" in 2019 at the Molesworth gallery in Dublin, Ireland.   Her novel "Slingshot" is being published by Wednesday Books/St. Martin's Press in April 2021. Mercedes Helnwein currently lives and works in downtown Los Angeles and Ireland

Nina Mae Fowler This Is Your Life, 2021 Pencil on Paper Signed verso 10 x 15cm (3¾ x 5¾ in.)     Known for her sumptuously detailed large-scale drawings and installations, Nina Mae Fowler's work interrogates themes of celebrity, beauty, power and sexuality. Fowler often uses subject matter from a seemingly bygone era to throw into relief strikingly similar contemporary narratives, such as abuses of power across industries and our own role as a consumer of celebrity culture. Education Graduated with a first in Fine Art Sculpture in 2003 from Brighton University Exhibitions/Awards Luminary Drawings: Portraits of Film Directors by Nina Mae Fowler, National Portrait Gallery, London, UK, 2019 The National Portrait Gallery awarded Fowler this major commission which features drawn portraits of British Film Directors, sitters included, Amma Asante, Ken Loach, Sir Ridley Scott, Sir Sam Mendes, Asif Kapadia and Sally Potter. The portraits form part of the museum's permanent collection. Fowler has also been shortlisted for numerous prizes and awards, including the Jerwood Drawing Prize (2015 & 2010), The Discerning Eye Drawing Bursary Award (2016), Aesthetica Art Prize (2014), Drawing Now Award (2014), Young Masters Prize (2012) and the BP Portrait Award (2008).   Her works have been exhibited within the context of cultural institutions and museums including; Kunstsaele Berlin, Germany (Drawing WOW, 2020) and Neuer Kunstverein Aschaffenburg, Germany (Starke Frauen, 2013).   Fowler has exhibited in galleries internationally, which includes frequent solo and group exhibitions in London (Cob Gallery, Lazarides), Paris (Galerie Suzanne Tarasieve, Galerie Dukan), Hamburg, Berlin (artnow Gallery), Leipzig and Hong Kong (Contemporary by Angela Li). Her works are held in notable private and public collections including; The National Portrait Gallery (UK), Balliol, Magdalen and New Colleges Oxford (UK), ColecciónAl Limite (Chile), Imago Mundi, Luciano Bennetton Collection (Treviso, Italy) and the ' Try-me' Collection, (Virginia, USA). In 2018, film director David Lynch's establishment Silencio in Paris held a retrospective of Fowler's work. Gallery Representation Cob Gallery, UK, Suzanne Tarasieve, France, art Now Gallery, Germany About the postcard artworks The life of actress Frances Farmer has been subject to dramatic fictionalisation, relentless scrutiny and mistruths. Having found fame in the 1930's she struggled with the image Hollywood forced upon her and spent the next decade in and out of psychiatric hospitals where she was mistreated and abused. She subsequently suffered from mental health issues for the rest of her life and was subject to a rumour that she had been lobotomised during one of her involuntary institutionalisations. In 1958 she appeared on "This is Your Life" to dispel years of speculation and innuendo. It is devastating to watch as she feels forced to explain herself, relive the worst times of her life and respond with perfect rationality. Her agony is writ large upon her face as she continues to be probed and pushed in front of an eternally unquenchable audience. This drawing is after a still from the broadcast."

Leonie Schneider (1993), born in Munich and currently living and working in The Netherlands, is a recent graduate from the Royal Academy of Arts, The Hague. Narratives are an inspiration for Leonie her entire life. She builds up characters in her mind and brings them to life, either through painting their interactions on large scale textiles or by welding metal constructions. She works with opposing techniques that both serve the goal of constructing a story. In her paintings, she describes the emotional, sometimes shocking occurrences in the relationships of her characters. She does this in a detailed manner, spending many hours on creating the environments of the scenes. Family constellation plays a big role in the way she assembles the figures. In contrast to her passion for painting, her love for welding metal results in symbolic, powerful, animalistic sculptures.   Education   Royal Academy of Arts, The Hague   Gallery Representation   Rademakers Gallery

Her method was derived in part from the early filmmaking technique of matte painting, where backdrops were painted on sheets of glass and integrated by the camera with the live-action on set. She builds up the image in her studio using cut-out fragments of source material, which she makes into small stage sets on glass panels. She then re-photographs the sets and manipulates the images digitally, an act of reprocessing which takes them further away from their original context and broadens the narrative potential. Her source material is drawn from an archive of collected imagery, which includes her own photographs of abandoned buildings as well as material collected from old books and magazines and fragments of paintings. She works intuitively with the material, finding points of connection between details, either through shared subject matter or formal considerations such as following the path of light from one image through another to create spaces, which at first may appear real but on closer inspection begin to dissolve. She plays with anomalies - of texture, surface, depth, space, scale, movement and architecture - to involve the viewer in the construction of the image, and to make them question it. In the finished work there is often an uneasy sense of a space that does not quite fit together - either formally or conceptually, but possesses a reality of its own. One which we are unable to pinpoint as factual or fictitious.

Her work is extremely textured and layered, this occurs due to the constant repainting in almost all of her works, collage also plays a vital role in this process.   Slade School of Fine Art Scholarships Lynn Painter's Stainers Prize 2016-2019   Residency's The Cabin, LA, September 2019 Plop, London, June 2018   Exhibitions   Solo Shows Union Gallery- The Place I call Home, August 2020 Beers London- The Poetry of the Everyday, August 2019 Delphian Gallery- Seating Arrangement, September 2019   Two Person Shows Setareh Gallery - The Space Between, December 2020-Jan 2021 Beers London- A Kindred Spirit, Feb-March 2020 The Cabin LA- Florence Hutchings and Danny Romeril, Sept-Oct 2019 The Halpern Gallery- Objects in Translation, June 2019   Other Exhibitions Saatchi Gallery - Antisocial Isolation, October 2020 Mall Galleries- FBA Future, Jan 2020 Delphian x Guts, November 2019 Delphian Gallery- Divergent Motion, Nov 2019 Guts Gallery Opening, May 2019 Slade Degree Show, May 2019 Saatchi Gallery - Kaleidoscope, March-June 2019 Beers London -Works on paper, December 2018 New Arts Project- Places and Faces, July 2018 Take Courage Gallery- Numerous and Often Varied, May 2018 5th Base Gallery- Juice, Feb 2018 The Chopping Block Gallery- Pretty Hot Pink, December 2017 The Crypt Gallery- All's Well, Nov 2017 The Chopping Block Gallery- Do I Beg This Slender Inch, Oct 2017 Doomed Gallery- Mud, Feb 2017 Geddes Gallery- Magical Offspring, June 2016   About the postcard artworks:   These three pieces for AOAP are all based on chairs i've been surrounded by recently, depicted in a variety of media.
