In 1865 Smythe painted a large scale oil painting of 'The Suffolk Hunt with Master John Josselyn before Euston Hall, Suffolk.' He also depicted hounds from the Suffolk Hunt for a major work titled 'Favourite Hounds of E. Walter Greene, Master of the Suffolk Hounds'. That work was offered at Bonhams, New York 13th February 2013 lot 186.
