A gauge 1 Accucraft UK model of a Class 5MT Stanier 'Black 5' tender locomotive No 5091, finished in LMS black lined livery with detailed cab and built in 1/32nd scale to the original design by Sir William Stanier in 1934 for the London Midland Scottish Railways. The model constructed from brass and die cast parts. Being two-rail electrically powered. The locomotive appears to have had little or no use and has its original boxes. Overall length 61cm.

An exhibition standard 2 inch scale model of a Burrell showman's tractor, built by the late Mr Leslie Walter Frank Stonier of Ansty in Wiltshire. The model having silver soldered copper boiler with steam pressure gauge, water sight glass, drains, regulator, firebox door and lever direction control. Open crank motion with Stephenson's reverse gear, ratchet lubricator system, whistle and safety valve. The model finished in dark red livery with belly water tanks having polished brass decoration, motion guard, solid disc flywheel with belt driving generator, spoked wheels with fitted rubber road tyres and polished brass wheel hubs. Winch and fitted fair-leads. The canopy supported on brass olivers. This model is approximately 80cm long, 29.5cm wide and 50cm high Boiler History: No boiler history available. Castings supplied by M J Engineering of Hampshire. The prototype for this model is engine No. 3868 built in 1921 and last used by Arnolds the famous Isle of Wight showman.

Wheel operated brake to back wheel. Worm and chain steering, open crank with two forward road speeds and reverse gear via Stephenson's link to brass clad single cylinder with cylinder block, drain taps with associated copper pipework and trunk guide to crank. Fitted water pump driven by eccentric attached to the open crank. Speed governor, safety valve, steam whistle, spoked flywheel, ash-pan operated from drivers position, boiler with clack valve, fairleads and winch drum fitted to back axle. The model finished in brown and black lined paintwork with detailed rivet-work, polished brass boiler bands, mud hole, spud pan, spoked wheels having polished steel hub caps and strakes fitted to rear wheels.Boiler History: No boiler history available.

Lot 145

An exhibition and award winning 5 inch gauge model of a 0-4-0 locomotive No 5, of the Monte Generose Railway, built by Mr Alasdair Milne of Reading and completed in 1992. The model is from the Swiss Locomotive Works drawings dated 1889, modified to allow conventional adhesive working of the model on an upgraded track at a scale of 6.4 to 1. The model is of a series of rack and pinion locomotives built for mountain railways (including Mount Snowdon). The silver soldered copper boiler with fittings including steam pressure gauge, water sight glass, regulator, wheel controls, fire box door and side doors to cab. The locomotive finished in traditional green and black livery with polished connecting rods, oilers, detailed rivet-work, engine plates and fitted handrails. Length 83cm. Width 30cm. Overall height 47cm.Awards: This model was awarded a Silver Medal and the Bill Deane Trophy at the 62nd Model Engineer Exhibition, This model was reported on in The Model Engineer in March 1993.Boiler History: Past boiler certificate. A well engineered 2 inch scale model of a 6 n.h.p Ransome live steam portable agricultural engine, built by the late Mr Tony Dyer of Oxfordshire. The horizontal boiler supporting single cylinder with cross-head guides, open crank, spoked flywheels, drop down chimney, speed governor linked to open crank by drive belt, Salters type safety valve, steam pressure-gauge and steam regulator lever. The boiler with water sight glass having associated drain pipework and boiler drain point. The whole supported on spoked wheels with front draft to allow movement by traction engine or horses.

A well engineered part built model of a 2 inch scale 'Thetford Town' Burrell scenic showman's engine, being built to the Ronald H Clarke design. This model is a double crank compound engine being sold with a copper boiler, wheels constructed and fitted to axles, firebox door fitted, fire-grate, large gearing have been cut, bronze cylinder block has been machined, crank shaft, fair-leads, water pump castings, large and small bronze and iron castings. Tender and belly tanks completed to a high standard, bevel gears, connecting rods, eccentrics, fire grate, sundry bronze castings including name plate, worm steering, chimney completed with polished brass top, a collection of official plans and much more. This lot has come in from a deceased estate so we are unable to convey a guarantee that all castings are present. However castings for this model are still available from Reeves of Birmingham at a cost of over £4,000 plus the price of a copper boiler. The motion and connecting rods with motion cover bearing the showman's engine name-plate 'The Iron Maiden', fitted speed governor, steam whistle, oiler system, solid disc flywheel, ash-pan operated from drivers position. Boiler with clack valve, polished brass boiler bands, fitted fairleads and winch drum to back axle. The model remains unpainted for the most part with yellow lined and spoked wheels having polished brass hub caps and fitted rubber road tyres, polished steel chimney having polished brass finish to top and generator fitted to front.
