AN UNMOUNTED UNHEATED 'PADPARADSCHA' SAPPHIRE Featuring an oval cut light orangy pink spinel weighing 1.12 Cts, measuring approximately 7.34 x 6.19 x 2.91 mm. Langman, London 1891; a small silver postal scale, with a top pan balance, by Levi and Salaman, Chester 1905-1920 (date letter rubbed); a pair of silver salts in the form of miniature monteith bowls; a small silver pepper caster; and a silver pig key ring, the pepper 7cms high – 7.7oz weighable silver. A fine live steam 3/4" scale 'Minnie' Traction Engine. Built by an engineer Mr. Robert Foster. The model was awarded a 'Certificate of Merit' (Commended) at the Alexandra Palace 61st Model Engineer Modelling Exhibition, we think for 1992 as its undated. The engine itself measures 46cm in length, height to the top of chimney is 32cm, width across the rear wheels is 21cm. Its finished in red lined dark green with 3 brass bands, red wheels, copper capped chimney, fully functioning with all parts intact. Registration number RF 8488, front and rear. VGC. Some cleaning required. Together with a manual of instructions for the 'Minnie' and its Certificate of Merit. Sold as a collectors item only, not to be run until professionally tested and certified. A scale model radio controlled WW2 R.A.F. Rescue Launch. A kit built example measuring 91cm. Superstructure lifts to reveal a single shaft electric motor. With 2 battery packs, Riko charger unit and a hand-held Acoms Techniplus controller. Basically GC-VGC £60-80Together with a framed water colour of the actual boat in action. Picture measures 50cm x 30cm.Note: 2 boats were constructed by Vosper Thornycroft Ltd Portsmouth 1952 for the RAF. Hulls of double skin mahogany on birch plywood framing. Power from two Rover Meteorite engines of 375 hp each, 8 cylinder V type engine of 18 litres. Top speed 28+ knots.Fire fighting from two 3.5" fire monitors that could spray water or foam. Power for the pumps from a Ford V8 engine to give 5-600 R.P.M. This pump also used as a salvage pump. For rescue work, they were fitted with a spring tow hook, line throwing equipment and rockets, stretchers and a portable davit. Two craft taken into service in 1952-53 at Calshot. Spent many years as experimental craft. Reported to have startling acceleration and could stop in their own length once the automatic 7 sec time delay came into effect on the reverse gear. Turning circle of three boat lengths at 28,5 knots. Both boats sold from service in 1958.
