Marcel Breuer for Isokon Furniture Company, a BC1 chair (Isokon Long Chair), designed 1936, but this example manufactured circa 1964 by Alesbury Brothers, Maidstone. NB: Breuer's original, 1936, version has an inherent design fault where the seat is attached to the frame. Breuer redesigned the chair in 1952 making the seat slightly wider and supported on brackets. As Isokon ceased making furniture in 1939 and Jack Pritchard was busy with the Furniture Development Council, the re-designed chair was not put into production until 1964 and even then on a modest scale. This was purchased from Jack Pritchard to match the original Isokon Chair owned by the Rowntrees. See illustration

Riemersma Hayo-original painting of Tiger Woods on board signed and dated 1997, this notable painting was published and illustrated in the Playboy magazine in October 1997-canvas size 26" x 19", mounted and framed 28.75" x 21.75". Note: the portrait of Tiger Woods was one from a series of portraits of sportsmen, especially made for the Dutch edition of Playboy (other portraits were for instance of Henk Angenent, skating, and Jos Verstappen, formula-1 racing). Brief History: Hayo was Born in 1950 The Netherlands, since 1982 continues to live and work just north of Amsterdam. He studied from 1971-76 Royal Academy of Arts, The Hague and in 1982 graduated at the University of Amsterdam (History of Art) 1977-89 professor at the VL-VU Academy of Art, Amsterdam and from 1976 until now his works have been in many exhibitions in The Netherlands and abroad. He was created a baronet 1714, a very successful financier with a reputed wealth of 300,000. He was implicated in the South Sea Bubble scandal and was heavily fined by the House of Commons committee in 1721. Provenance: Sotheby’s London, 6th November 1997, lot 163. The other two of a set of four were sold by Christie’s New York, 19th October 2004, lot 1062. Note: A set of four salts also by de Lamerie and engraved with the same crest are in the Farrer Collection at the Ashmolean Museum (Illus.
