These window cards can be seen in the sequence in which the Blues Brothers promote their upcoming concert, with many of them handed out by children.The borders and top of the red field were airbrushed during restoration. Based on a Saturday Night Live sketch featuring John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd, The Blues Brothers is a comedic love letter to blues and soul music and a raucous celebration of wide-scale automotive carnage.This lot will be auctioned on Thursday, April 18th. The auction will begin at 9:30am PST and lots are sold sequentially via live auctioneer; tune in to the live streaming broadcast on auction day to follow the pace. Blake is a patron. This is a remarkable, large scale piece by one of Britain’s most beloved and renowned illustrators. Best known for his work with Roald Dahl, Blakes use of bright colours imbue this artwork with the same sense of vitality and originality which make his illustrations so popular across generations. The artist's work is currently the subject of a major exhibition at Hastings Contemporary, 'Quentin Blake: A Hundred Portraits'.
