A First Period Worcester porcelain oval dessert dish, the centre decorated an urn strewn with foliage, the dark blue border with a gilt inner band of shells and bellflowers, the pierced raised trellis sides with gilt grapevines inside and applied daisy heads outside, flowerheads to the end rope twist handles (one restored). Blue crescent mark.

A late 19th Century French Gilt, Brass and Porcelain mounted Clock Garniture, the plinth-shaped case surmounted by a lidded twin-handled urn, to a porcelain dial, with gilt highlighted surround enclosing Roman lozenges and landscape to the centre with gilt fleur-de-lys type hands, over a further Italianate landscape depicting blacksmiths shoeing a horse, and raised on splayed bracket feet, to a circular brass movement with anchor escapement and strike on a bell, and flanked by a pair of matching urn-shaped side pieces, each also depicting equestrian pursuits (some slight losses), height of clock 16 ½” (3)

Marjorie Taylder (b. 30 March 1730, d. 25 October 1795 at Lostwithiel). One of the sons of Samuel and Majorie Hext was John Hext (b.15 Nov 1766) and who was presented with the silver hot water urn and the pair of neo-classical two-handled vases also included in this sale. John Hext is the great great great great grandfather of the present vendors.
