A Worcester Dalhousie Style shaped hexagonal teapot stand, painted with a classical urn, within a turquoise husk and gilt roundel, the ground with three colourful fruit sprays, divided by ladybird and other insects, blue border applied with gilt scrolls, 13.5cm wide, crescent mark, c.1780 . This tray is done in the Dalhousie Style of fruit but James Giles was known for his classical urns and his gilding. Provenance: Sir Jeremy Lever Collection, Part I, P.86; H. Harrow Bunn Collection; Knowles Boney CollectionThe Bunn Collection was sold at Christies on the 8th May 1928. Dr Knowles Boney Collection was exhibited at the Museum of Liverpool Porcelain, 1978. It was wrongly thought to be Liverpool Porcelain by Dr. Boney. Condition Report: Good condition with some slight surface wear.
A Worcester shell shaped desert dish, decorated in the workshop of James Giles, painted in the centre en grisaille with a classical urn, snakes handles and sprigs of coloured flowers, wet blue ground applied in relief with gilt with scrolling fruiting vine, 19cm wide, crescent mark, c.1770 Vendor's Note: James Giles painted various classical urns, with differing shapes and styles, accompanied with intricate gilding; he seemed to favour vine or fruiting and vine patterns with tendrils. Although on one example he just used a bright blue edge. Condition Report: Good condition. Slight firing blemish to rim. Lightest of wear.
