A George II Irish silver coffee pot, by Charles Leslie, Dublin circa 1740, tapering circular form, chased foliate shell and strap-work border, leaf capped faceted tapering spout with chased decoration, flat chased cover with an urn finial, wooden scroll handle, on a circular foot, engraved with an armorial within foliate scroll mantling, the reverse with a crest, the underside with a scratch weight '33:17', height 22cm, approx. weight 34oz. The crest is that of Hansard of Lifford, Co. Donegal impaling Eccles, Maddison, Marley or Morris. Provenance: A Private Collection. A late 19th century large Chinese silver goblet, with marks for Wang Hing, 90, and with Chinese characters, the urn shaped bowl chased with trailing vine and grape decoration, on a knopped stem with various decorative styles, on a raised circular foot, applied with a pierced vine mount, and with an acanthus leaf border, height 28.3cm, approx. weight 22.3oz.
An early 19th century silver sugar vase and cover, marks worn, possibly JS four times, possibly Cape, urn form, with three stylised Kudu antelope heads, the raised pull-off cover with a cone finial, on a raised circular foot, height 29cm, approx. weight 41oz. A Dutch silver tobacco jar and cover, with pseudo marks for Hendrik Vrijman, Rotterdam 1780, also with a Rotterdam discharge and tax mark for Rotterdam 1795-1806, and a later tax mark, probably 19th century, circular form, with laurel leaf garlands and lion mask ring handles, the raised cover applied with foliate rosettes and with an urn finial and beaded border, on four bracket feet, the underside with initials 'H.S', diameter 13cm, approx. weight 19oz.
A FINE ORMOLU HILT SMALLSWORD BY RICHARD JOHNSTON C.1800, 83cm triangular section incurved blade decorated with scrolling foliage and a stand of arms, characteristic hilt of conventional form, D-shaped knuckle guard, decorated overall with raised ribs of rounded section, those on the guard in radial arrangement, urn-shaped pommel, fine silver wire bound grip, contained in its vellum covered scabbard (repaired) with steel mounts, locket signed "R. Johnston late BLAND & FOSTER Sword Cutler & Belt Maker to his MAJESTY 68 St James's St London". Richard Johnston succeeded Robert Foster (formerly Bland & Foster) in 1798 at 68 St. James's Street. A GOOD 1796 PATTERN INFANTRY OFFICER'S SWORD, 82cm blade etched with a crowned GR cypher, Royal arms (1801-1816), stands of arms and the Union flowers all highlighted in gilt on a blued ground, regulation gilt hilt retaining virtually all of its original gilding, D-shaped knuckle guard, folding side guard, urn-shaped pommel, silver wire bound grip, contained in its leather scabbard with gilt brass mounts, twin suspension rings, locket engraved with owner's initials I.W. complete with bullion dress knot.
AN UNUSUAL 1796 PATTERN HEAVY CAVALRY OFFICER'S DRESS SWORD, 85cm early diamond section rapier blade cut with a deep single fullers each etched XXXXX THOMAS XXXX AYALA XXXX together with cross motifs, regulation gilt hilt retaining virtually all its original gilding, heart-shaped guard, D-shaped knuckle bow, urn-form pommel, silver wire bound grip. Small amount of lead added at the point where the blade enters the hilt, presumably to prevent movement.
A LATE 18TH CENTURY ROYAL NAVAL OR MARINE OFFICER'S FIGHTING SWORD, 72.75cm curved fullered blade characteristic Tutenag slotted hilt, the urn form pommel engraved with a fouled anchor to either side, reeded ebonised grip, contained in its leather scabbard. See Swords for Sea Service, plate 16, sword 353 for an identical example - widely used in the American Revolution and beginning of the Napoleonic wars. Chape lacking from scabbard and stitching parting towards the throat.
A REGIMENTAL 1796 PATTERN INFANTRY OFFICER'S SWORD TO THE 1ST OR ROYAL REGIMENT OF FOOT, 80cm broad flattened diamond section blade with multiple edge nicks, regulation brass hilt with D-shaped knuckle bow and urn form pommel, the upturned shell guard cast with two crowned garters each with a thistle centered, wooden grip.
AN INTERESTING HONOURABLE ARTILLERY COMPANY OFFICER'S SWORD, 78cm flattened diamond section blade, grey staining, regulation gilt brass hilt , the pierced upturned guard with flaming grenade motif, D-shaped knuckle bow, urn-form pommel, wire bound grip, contained in its engraved gilt brass mounted leather wrapped steel scabbard. The pommel appears to be that of a 1796 Pattern Infantry Officer's sword.
