A 19th century Continental white metal gem set and enamelled ivory timepiece The architectural case with urn finials, scrolling and figural mounts, the white enamelled dial with pocket watch movement, standing on a spreading plinth base with horse modelled white metal feet. 27.5 cm high. CONDITION REPORTS: Slight losses, damage to dial enamel, shrinkage cracks, some staining, some evidence of previous gilding now rubbed.
6th century AD. A burnished ceramic urn, biconical in profile with flattened base, collar to the shoulder and everted rim; bands of rouletting to the shoulder. 1.2 kg, 23cm (9"). Fine condition, repaired. Property of an Essex lady; acquired Wales; reputedly found Mollerston, Wales. Cf. Myres, J.N.L. Anglo-Saxon Pottery and the Settlement of England, Oxford, 1969, item 1632. The use of rouletting on the shoulder is atypical of cremation urns.

A late 18th century RN officer’s 5 ball hilted sword, curved, shallow fullered blade 24½”, with back fuller, evidently shortened during its working life, brass stirrup hilt with crossguard, quillon and 5 ball side loop enclosing pierced fouled anchor, 5 ball knucklebow, stepped flattened urn pommel, fluted ivory grip with central band and oval engraved with crowned fouled anchor, in leather scabbard with brass locket, middle band 2 rings and frog stud (lower part and chape missing). GC for age with traces of gilt.
