An early 20th century French faience clock garniture, the eight day timepiece contained within a column case with urn finial, with painted and moulded floral decoration on an ivory and pink ground, together with a pair of conforming candlesticks. Printed and painted marks, Galle, Nancy, St Clement.
A good cased pair of 28 bore officer’s flintlock holster pistols by Joseph Manton, 13½” overall, rifled octagonal twist barrels 8” with gold lines and touch holes, breeches with foliate engraving, the underside of the barrels with London provisional and definitive proofs and engraved with the initials “J.P”, the muzzles with swivel ramrods; flat bolted locks with rainproof pans and raised cams on the frizzen springs, plate engraved with fern tip borders and “Joseph Manton, London”, walnut halfstocks with silver barrel wedge plates and escutcheons and rounded chequered butts; steel mounts include engraved fore-end caps and engraved and shaped trigger guards with urn finials, containing single set triggers. Good Working Order and Condition (one tumbler screw head detached but present, the trigger guards well reblued); in their original green baize lined fitted brass bound mahogany case, with folding handle in the lid and with good trade label of “Joseph Manton, Gun Maker, Davies Street, Berkeley Square, London”, containing 28 bore steel pincer mould, 3 way copper and brass flask with screw base, and later turnscrew and cleaning rod. Good Condition (no key, small old split to lid). Plate 97
A 1796 pattern infantry officer’s sword, tapering flattened diamond section blade 32”, etched on both sides with pre 1801 R Arms and supporters with motto, and “For My Country and King” in simple panels, regulation hilt with double shell guard, knucklebow and quillon (bent), octagonal urn shaped pommel, simulated silver wirebound grip. GC, the hilt retaining approx 50% original gilt, dark patina to blade. Plate 6
An 18 bore flintlock duelling pistol by Oates, Worcester, 14½” overall, octagonal barrel 9” with London style proofs and engraved “Worcester” in script; flat bolted lock with rainproof pan and roller on frizzen, plate engraved “Oates” in script, halfstocked with horn fore end cap, deeply chequered butt, shield shaped silver escutcheon and engraved steel trigger guard with urn finial; with replacement horn tipped ramrod. GWO & Basically GC (worn overall with moderate pitting, the cock a good replacement). Plate 8
A George II silver coffee pot, maker's mark unclear possibly by either Richard Bayley or Richard Beale, London 1734, of tapered cylindrical form on a moulded circular foot, with an urn finial, engraved with a coat of arms, the base engraved with intials H over W*S, 23cm high, 20oz CONDITION REPORT: No obvious major faults. Scorching and splits to handle.
