The rectangular lid with a moulded edge opening to reveal decoratively etched steel strap hinges and a partitioned pine interior with lidded box to one end. The arcaded front carved with a pair of cherubs holding hour glasses and flanking a central urn of flowers and seeding pomegranates, with scrolling face masks issuing pendant garlands of fruit either side. The ends fitted with iron swing handles on face mask appliqués framed in ripple moulding and having incised borders. The chest standing on bun feet 25 ins (64 cms) high, 37½ ins (95 cms) wide, 19½ ins (50 cms) deep.
