GUSTAVE SERRURIER-BOVY (1858–1910)ART NOUVEAU GILT METAL MOUNTED MAHOGANY DISPLAY CABINET, CIRCA 1900 with twin urn stands above galleried tops and two glazed doors with applied stylised whiplash brackets, enclosing lined interior with single glazed shelf, raised on square legs with reeded feet71.5cm wide, 171cm high, 37cm deepNote: Gustave Serrurier-Bovy, the Belgian architect and furniture designer was involved in the development of European Art Nouveau movement along with Symbolist painters and other designers such as Henry van de Velde, Victor Horta, and Paul Hankar. His designs have a simple, almost rustic-style with elegant vertical line and often an emphasis on asymmetrical extensions and forms. Surrurier-Bovy travelled to London in 1888 and subsequently became interested in the work of the Arts and Crafts movement which led to him moving away from expensive cabinetmaking to focus on simplicity in decoration and a more industrial aesthetic. This cabinet of about 1900 is a variant of an example shown in an advertisement of the period.

Together with a pair of similar ormolu two branch candelabra supporters of vase shape with rectangular bases. 23.5cm high approx, (3) (B.P. 24% incl. VAT) CONDITION REPORT: The supporters are very similar but may not be a match. Some wear overall to surfaces commensurate with age, a little grubby but no obvious damage or losses. Includes key and pendulum.
MEISSEN PORCELAIN FIGURE MOUNTED URN SHAPED VASE having two cherubs and large dog, the standing cherub with garland of flowers, the urn entwined with trailing vines and painted with classical figures in a garden. Under glazed blue cross swords marks with incised no. 1009, 21cm high approx. (B.P. 24% incl. VAT) CONDITION REPORT: Extensive damage and losses to the foliage. Restoration to the neck area, noticeable re-gilding to the top of the vase.

VAT) CONDITION REPORT: All rather grubby, no obvious significant damage or losses noted.

(2)(B.P. 24% incl. VAT) CONDITION REPORT: The large urn shaped vase has damage to one side of the handles, otherwise both items appearing with no obvious damage, chips, cracks or restoration.

George III silver coffee pot of baluster form, with leaf-mounted bird-head spout, fruitwood scroll handle and hinged domed cover with bead border and urn finial, on a domed circular foot (London 1773), maker's mark distorted, possibly I.K. Cover hinge is slightly distorted and cover does not sit square. Top handle mount slightly pushed in. Lower handle mount pushed in and repaired. Foot slightly distorted. Handle possibly replaced. Marks slightly rubbed. Makers marks distorted. Possibly had engraving removed

Some surface scratching and minor denting. Silver plate is worn in places and copper showing through on high spots. Two feet are slightly bent and urn does not sit square.
