AN 18TH CENTURY FIGURED WALNUT 30-HOUR LONGCASE CLOCK the case with moulded pediment and eglomise panel above a glazed door with turned columns on a slender trunk with crossbanded feather veneered door and matching base. The 12" square brass dial with gilt urn spandrels and Roman chapter ring surrounding a matted engraved centre with calendar aperture fronting a weight driven movement with latched plates and outside countwheel striking on a bell209.5cm high the movement is original to dial and is complete and ticking but is dirty may require a service, the steel hand is original, the bottom door hinge is loose, the case is in good condition having original colour and patina, the trunk has original lock but no key, a small patch repair on the front of the lock on the trunk front, the base has a small horizontal crack, the bottom mould is later, the clock would've originally had a plinth or bracket feet, the glass panel is original but the paint is worn.

VAT will be charged at 5% on the hammer price and 20% on the buyer's premium. In fully restored condition. Stiffly re-lined, cleaned and re-varnished. The surface has been somewhat flattened and abraded by the restoration process. Several areas of thin paint, likely owing to the restoration. Areas where the weave and creases of the relined canvas are visible. Slight frame rubbing to edges. There are several patches of medium sized stable craquelure. Two small circular losses of paint to middle of right hand edge (see image), each no more than 0.5cm across. Under UV the work is covered in a thick varnish which rather occludes evidence of restoration. That said, there are several patches of infilling to old craquelure throughout the surface. There are some notable patches of retouching along the lower edge and sporadically elsewhere including a patch of the pineapple. a patch to the left of the goldfish bowl and the odd more subtle patch in the sky.
