19th Century Blue John pedestal urn, of neo-classical form with brass acorn finial and socle, on an alabaster, Blue John and black slate or Ashford 'black marble' plinth inset with a Blue John tablet, 30cm high, 2123g approx gross Condition: Losses and rebuilding to the flared fixed cover which is immediately beneath the brass acorn finial, that piece has two sections re-attached and a loss to the rim, the shoulder of the main urn has a number of edge losses and so would need either re-building or slightly trimming. There's a small loss to one corner of the pedestal and there's a vertical crack through the applied Blue John tablet to the slate base. **General condition consistent with age

The present armchairs are also of a configuration often associated with John Cobb, based on related furniture which was supplied for Erddig, Denbighshire (J. Cragg, 'Room for improvement, the re-arrangement of room furnishings at Erddig', Apollo, April 2002, p. 38, fig. 4). Payments to John Cobb were made by Philip Yorke I of Erdigg in 1770 (Erddig, Guide Book, 1978, p.g).
