A COALPORT BLUE AND WHITE JUG, JOHN ROSE & CO, 1796-C1800 AND A SIMILAR CONTEMPORARY CHINESE SAUCER printed with the Latticed Fence and Pagoda and painted with the Latticed Urn and Fence patterns respectively Provenance: Bill Dickenson, Ironbridge. The jug is of the plain 1796 shape, with latticed fence and pagoda and secondary prints from Calcut's Round Arched Bridge and the oval flower border found on the two Calcut mugs above. The decoration on the Chinese saucer with its latticed fence is similar in style to the main print on the jug and the source of the latticed urn and fence on the Caughley saucer illustrated 1989, p27; 2004, p470 and 2013, p191. A similar jug in the Godden Reference Collection, illustrated 1989, p98, 1985, p337 and 2004, p500, was sold Bonhams, 13 November, 2013, lot 220. ++Saucer cracked and chipped No Reserve

An infantry officer’s dress sword c 1800, tapering hollow triangular section blade 33½”, etched with an arm emerging from a cloud, the hand holding a sword and ribbons, the other devices and stylized scrolls, gilt hilt with shallow upturned shell guard, crossguard and token pas d’ane rings, knucklebow and urn pommel, the top of the guard and pommel engraved with stylized floral chains, simulated banded and wirebound grip, in its white patent leather (some wear) scabbard with engraved locket, with one ring, and chape. A 1796 type infantry officer’s dress sword, shallow diamond section blade 32½”, the centre flattened for most of its length, etched with pre 1801 Royal Arms and supporters, scrolling and “For My Country & King”, on both sides, flat double shell guard with plain outlined panels, knucklebow and quillon, octagonal V shaped urn pommel with prominent stud, simulated wirebound grip. Good Condition the hilt retaining approximately 85% original gilt (light wear and pitting to blade). Plate 66
