Provenance - Given to George John Scott on his retirement in 1934 as Treasurer of the Bank of Scotland.

The grandfather at the sale asked his housekeeper which of the objects for sale were heavily used by Lord Kelvin and she pointed him to the tea urn and said `Lord Kelvin used it every day`. The tea urn was then passed down through the current vendors family where is was affectionately known as `Aunt Sabina`.
