A Japanese Meiji period Shibayama style large panel decorated with a grotesque figure around the base of an urn displaying flowers, signed to plaque, 121 x 49cm (af). CONDITION REPORT: Sadly there are a few areas of loss throughout and crude plaster repairs, other areas missing entirely, further crude repairs. Splits to the gold lacquer.
A 1796 Pattern Infantry Officer's Sword, the 80.5cm single edge fullered steel blade half blued, engraved and gilt with a martial trophy, rampant lion and foliage, the gilt brass hilt with half hinged double shell guard, foliate sheathed quillon, stirrup knuckle bow, silver wire bound grip and foliate sheathed panelled urn finial, the black leather scabbard with gilt brass mountsSome pitting to the surface of the blade which retains most of the bluing. There is minor wear to the gilding on the hilt. The gilding is worn to the mounts of the leather scabbard which has surface crazing and a crease above the shoe.
