Japy Fils, Paris a French ormolu & porcelain mantel clock: the eight-day duration movement striking the hours and half-hours on a bell, the backplate stamped with the maker's name Japy Fils along with the serial number 7028, the blue porcelain dial having gilt Roman numerals and gilded-brass decorative hands, the centre painted with floral decoration along with the retailer's name Page, Keen and Page, Plymouth, the shaped ormolu case with applied scroll sides to the centre drum, with the shaped matching blue porcelain panel having painted floral decoration, the top surmounted with an ormolu urn with matching porcelain decoration, all standing on a shaped giltwood base with a further ebonised oval base and glass dome, height 28cms, (clock), 40cms (including base and dome). * Biography Japy Fils being Louis-Frederic Japy. Japy frères, a French porcelain panelled clock garniture: the eight-day duration movement striking the hours and half-hours on a bell with the backplate stamped with the trademark for the blanc roulant movement maker Japy Freres et Cie, the turquoise porcelain dial having black Roman hour numerals and decorative gilt-brass hands, the gilt-metal case with shaped base and having a turquoise panel to the front depicting a young couple in a meadow with further bowed porcelain panels to the case sides depicting rural scenes, with further curved panels to the front and side of the shaped base and surmounted by a matching urn, with two matching side pieces in the form of classical vases both with painted decoration and applied mounts, height 40cms (clock) 34cms (side pieces). * Biography For details of Japy Frères see lot no. 902
A Victorian walnut, inlaid and gilt metal mounted credenza:, of D-shaped breakfront outline, bordered with boxwood lines, the top with an ebonised moulded edge, the frieze with stylised foliate designs and paterae, enclosed by a central door with urn, drapery swags and foliate scroll ornament, flanked by an enclosed glazed cupboard of bowed outline to either side, on a plinth base with ebonised turned tapered feet, 148cm (4ft 10 1/4in) long.
A Victorian rosewood rectangular library table:, the top with rounded corners and a moulded edge, containing two short frieze drawers on urn-shaped standard and carved dual splayed end supports with acanthus scroll ornament, united by a turned and reeded stretcher, terminating in foliate scroll feet and castors, the top 145cm (4ft 9in) x 71cm (2ft 4in).
An early 19th Century Dutch mahogany and floral marquetry block front commode:, bordered with sycamore lines, the top with a moulded edge and re-entrant corners decorated with birds and foliage centred by an urn of flowering stems, containing two long drawers and with shaped apron below, the sides similarly decorated with urns of floral foliage, on cabriole legs, terminating in block feet, 130.5cm (4ft 3 1/4in) wide.
A 19th Century mahogany and inlaid serpentine fronted sideboard:, bordered with boxwood lines, having brass urn and baluster uprights, fitted with a central drawer in the arched apron with fan decorated spandrels, flanked by a deep drawer and an enclosed cupboard between stiles decorated with oval fan medallions, on square tapered legs, terminating in spade feet, 183cm (6ft) long.
An early 18th Century Italian tortoiseshell, ebony and coromandel wood architectural cabinet on a 19th Century carved mahogany stand:, the gilt metal mounted cabinet fitted with an arrangement of drawers with baluster galleries and urn finials about a central portico drawer with applied Classical figures on Vitruvian scroll plinths, between spiral turned and plain columns with Corinthian capitals, the interior with various concealed drawers, the sides inlaid with brass geometric lines and satinwood husks, the stand with an acanthus scroll apron and central rocaille cartouche, on acanthus decorated cabriole legs, terminating in claw and ball feet, the cabinet 112.5cm (3ft 8 1/4in) wide, 61.5cm (2ft) high, 40cm (1ft 3 3/4in) deep - the stand 120cm (3ft 11in) wide.
