French - late 19th century gilt spelter 8-day mantle clock, case with hand painted porcelain panels surmounted by a porcelain urn with a painted depiction of a couple in 18th century dress, porcelain dial with brass hands and cartouche roman numerals on a pink ground,twin train striking movement with a countwheel strike on a bell. Of rectangular form with canted corners, the lid with beaded 'urn' finial, all sides engraved, including hunting and tavern scenes, all sides of the body again engraved, the front inscribed 'VERNON ARMS' 'BAKEWELL' below 'Robert Gladwin', with further hunting and fishing scenes, the underside engraved 'C. HILL', 'Engraver', '1885', on cast claw and ball feet, height 12.8cm, width 9cm.
