oval, with engraved border, the portrait miniature painted en grisaille with two ladies in a landscape and on either side of a memorial obelisk decorated with gilt-metal and pearls, signed with initials WW, the back engraved with an inscription, the suspension loop with an associated further portrait miniature of a lady beside an urn85mm highFootnote: The inscription reads 'In Memory of Phillip Jacob who Died Dec'r 19 1785 Aged 30 at Montreal in America'.Condition report: There are various areas where small pearls were attached, particularly in two rows located below of obelisk. Some pearls have become detached and are loose within the frame. There are also some twisted gilt-metal wire borders, some of which are loose as is a further gilt ornament which originally sat at the top of the obelisk. There is overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use as well as some dirt within the frame. The further portrait miniature is not original to the piece and has a large crack to the ivory.

{} A Pair of Victorian Gilt and Gesso Wall-Mounted Display Cabinets, 2nd half 19th century, the moulded hinged door enclosing red velvet-lined interior with two serpentine shaped shelves with shell C scroll supports and two small shelves, the canted sides with a rococo style scrolled apron surmounted by a decorative plume in the form of an urn issuing flowers and leaves, 150cm by 78cm by 37cmVarious faults and various coats of gilding. Cabinet one - various losses and overpainting. Urn is damaged with previous glue repair marks. Further repairs around the apron and shrinkage splits to the framework. Cabinet two - better condition, however there is further overpainting and small faults throughout.

A carved wood model of an urn with fruit and leaves, 20th century, height 46cm, width 25cm, depth 12cm.Provenance: From the Estate of Viv Hendra.Viv Hendra was a much loved and inspirational teacher, always happy to get involved with extra curricular activities, particularly those with a musical or theatrical leaning. But it was as an art historian and the founder of the Lander Gallery, Truro, that we knew him at Lay's Auctions. His expertise was unrivalled when it came to the Cornish artist John Opie and he was always so generous with his advice, always cautious, always sensible, always kind and supportive. He had schorlarly, yet eclectic tastes and could be a most spirited bidder on objects that appealed to him. We are honoured to be selling some of the wonderful things he collected over the years. He was wonderful, kind and entertaining company and is very much missed.

A George III ormolu three-light candelabrum,almost certainly designed by James 'Athenian' Stuart and probably supplied by Diederich Nicolaus Anderson, c.1758-1765, the baluster-shaped urn with crisply-cast applied palmettes supporting two scrolled arms and a central sconce with cast and applied foliage, the neck and pedestal base with wrythen fluting, applied floral garlands and guilloché and Vitruvian borders,32.5cm diameter maximum33.5cm highThis important candelabrum is amongst the earliest examples of English or European neoclassicism. Six pairs of similar candelabra are known to have been supplied to, amongst others, John, 1st Earl Spencer at Spencer House, George, later 1st Baron Lyttelton at Hagley Hall, The Marquess of Rockingham at Wentworth Woodhouse.Matthew Boulton purchased items from Andersen's stock following his death, including a vase candelabra, elements of which he copied for his own candelabra vases.
