A 1796 pattern infantry officer’s sword, fullered blade 28½” (slightly shortened), etched on one side with scroll “Warranted” and 1801-16 R Arms, and on the other with crowned GR cypher and infantryman, all with flourishes, regulation copper gilt hilt, double shell guard, the inner turning down, quillon, knucklebow, urn shaped pommel, simulated silver wirebound grip. Basically GC, the hilt retaining approx 60% gilt, traces of gilt to blade etching (obscured by dark patina).
A rare double barrelled 20 bore pellet lock sporting gun, by H W Mortimer, converted from a flintlock of c 1800 with breech drums, 43½” overall, barrels 28” with tall sighting rib, breeches with single broad gold line and traces of engraved “Nock, London”; flat stepped locks have Forsyth type hammers and hinged strikers replacing the original frizzens, which are linked to the original frizzen springs which clamp them over the breech drums, the bevelled plates engraved with rayed patterns and signed “H W Mortimer” in oval cartouche; walnut halfstock having chequered wrist and cheekpiece, and steel mounts including throat pipe and trigger guard having classical urn and pineapple finials, the large trigger guard bow engraved with flowers and foliage. Good Working Order and Condition (ramrod a replacement, some wear to the barrels) Plate 29
A Spanish officer’s 14 bore percussion holster pistol, 14” overall, 2 stage barrel 8¾” with chiselled band, the octagonal breech deeply stamped with 3 fleur de lis and escutcheon embossed “Fab.Di Mong”, the plain flat border engraved lock with horizontal scears protruding through the plate to engagte the heel of the hammer, the walnut fullstock having hatched and punched butt with scale carving down the spine, and carved panel beneath the fore end, the plain brass mounts comprising oval buttcap, trigger guard with urn type finial, small side plate and baluster ramrod pipes. GWO & C (dark patina to lock and barrel, the hammer slightly battered and possibly a contemporary replacement, no ramrod). Plate 16

Basically GC for age, the blade retaining a little original gilt (obscured by dark patina).
A fine German double barrelled 20 bore flintlock sporting gun, by “Wittemann in Giessen”, c 1790, 51½” overall, lightly browned barrels 35¾” with 10” flat side ribs at the breech end, and signed on the top rib; plain rounded line engraved locks having swan neck cock with sharp medial ridge and square ended pans and frizzens; the nicely figured pale walnut halfstock having horn fore end cap , the butt with cheekpiece, carved with flowers and scrolls around the breech tang, throat pipe trigger guard and cheekpiece; steel mounts include throat pipe, trigger guard and butt plate tang with classical urn type finials, trigger guard bow engraved with panel depicting hunting dog attacking a deer, butt plate tang also engraved with hunting scene, the wrist with shell embossed silver escutcheon engraved with initials and surrounded by inlaid silver wire scrolls; with sling swivels and horn tipped wooden ramrod. Very Good Working Order and Condition for age, the locks and mounts with original bright finish. Plate 29
