A 1796 pattern infantry officer’s sword, blade 32½”, with unusual German maker’s name “H. Hauschiff” on backstrap, etched with crowned GR cypher, pre 1801 R Arms and supporters with motto, trophies and scrolls, retaining a little original gilt at forte, regulation gilt hilt with double shell guard, the inner one hinged (loose), knucklebow and quillon, facetted urn pommel, simulated silver wirebound grip. GC the hilt retaining approx 65% gilt. Plate 11
