Victorian carved oak hall chair, the carved back with flower head and lion mask head decoration above a blind fielded panel with tapering carved back decoration of an urn with flowers and foliage, circular moulded seat on curved front paw feet. Provenance - believed to have come from Taymouth Castle in Scotland. 98cm approx high. (B.P. 21% + VAT) A chip to the nose of the lion, some fading in places especially to the seat, structurally sound, some shrinkage splits to the base/feet area.

British School, early 19th century- Portrait of Emilie de Gomez-Barrozo (1813-1903), aged seven, standing full-length, next to an urn of flowers; oil on canvas, inscribed on the reverse and bears old label with written inscription from the sitter's granddaughter 'ma grand-mère maternelle' attached to the central horizontal stretcher bar, 135.5 x 91 cm. Provenance: Private Collection. Note: The present work was painted in London in 1820 when the sitter was aged seven years old. The written details on the reverse tell us the following information about the sitter: Emilie Gomez Barrozo. Born in 1813 in Lisbon, Portugal. Died in Lusignan [France] in 1903, aged 90. Painted in London in 1820 at the age of 7. Married Léonard de Banes Gardonne in 1829. Mother of Láonie de Mèstral Combremont.Please refer to department for condition report

Evidence of crude repair to urn. Other porcelain plaques have slipped in their mounts but in good condition. Imperfections to gilding, particularly to front right corner of the stand. Key is present. Ticks when wound at the point of cataloguing but this is no guarantee of working order and we would recommend inspection by a professional clockmaker. Pendulum present but not associated.

The other obelisk also has repairs to one cherub arm and end of garland, missing garland ends and a crack to the plinth base at one side

A George III period painted mahogany eight-day longcase clock: the 12 inch painted broken-arch dial with Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds-hand, date aperture and signed 'Jn Bailey, Horncastle' and with spandrels painted with shells, the hood with three brass finials above glazed door and fluted columns, the trunk door hand-painted in neoclassical style with an urn above a vase of flowers supported by two cherubs, the base also decorated with a cornucopia-style display of various flowers held aloft by a further cherub seated upon a swan, two weights, pendulum and key (232cm (to tip of finial))
A late 18th / early 19th century memento mori; the obverse painted with a grieving female figure above a tomb on which a two-handled urn is positioned with the initials W.L.P.. The inscription to the stone base reads SACRED WILL I KEEP THY DEAR REMAINS. The reverse with plaited light-brown hair, both oval glasses with hand-bevelled edges, rose-gold coloured oval frame.
