A Late 18th Century Blond Tortoiseshell Fan, the monture carved, pierced and gilded, the gorge in particular with figures the double paper leaf seemingly glazed on the verso. The recto, in chinoiserie style, is painted with several figures wearing simple robes, some appearing to bring refreshments. A lively dog accompanies the figure to the right, approaching a table which is decorated with blue and white panels and is placed next to an enormous lidded urn, with gold detail and a pink painted pagoda and foliage painted on otherwise blue and white porcelain. The verso is decorated with simple flowers. Guard length 10.5 inches or 26.5cm Purchased at Christie's on May 17th 1979 for £150.00Some restoration to the leaf seen from the verso and more folds require attention. Some foxing and soiling mainly on the verso.
A large pair of terracotta garden urns, 82cm H, with a smaller urn, 56cm H (at fault) CONDITION REPORT: The large urns with general discolouration from being in the garden. One with a chip to the rim, another with an oval chip to the body and an old and large section of ships to the base. Other little nibbles here and there.
A pair of large 19th Century Sheffield plate wine coolers of urn form with twin handles, part reeded bodies, raised on stepped circular foot, each bearing engraved armorial, approx 25 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Both wine coolers have numerous areas of tarnishing and wear to the silver plate. Both have light surface scratches, some areas of pitting to both, some small dents and knocks to both pieces. Some staining and accretions to both. Also polish residue left on the handles and on the inside of the removable collars on both. General wear and tear commensurate with age and use. See photos for details.
A walnut four section candle holder in the 17th Century Spanish manner, the plain holders on Gothic style urn capped fretworked end supports, united by fretwork roundel panels, over a lidded candle box, raised on splayed feet, 83 cm x 100 cm CONDITION REPORTS Numerous surface scratches, knocks, dents to the wood, some small chips in areas. A section of the carved finial design on either side has been replaced on both sides. There are numerous burns and char marks, a heavy build up of wax in the middle tier and wax on the top tier. There are some splits to the wood. There are gouges to the wood on one side just below the urn decoration. There is also a gouge to the wood on the lid of the candle holder. There is no key present for the lock on the candle box on the base. Some staining, discoloration, evidence of old worm to the bottom of one of the side structures. General wear and tear commensurate with age and use. See photos for more details.
An 18th Century walnut framed armchair in the Flemish taste, the upholstered back with serpentine top rail over moulded open scroll arms on turned urn shaped supports to the upholstered seat, raised on turned cup and cover supports united by a moulded shaped X stretcher, all on squat bun feet, 115 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Surface scratches, scuffs and knocks and dents to the wood. Fading and discolouration to the frame, mainly to the arms and to the stretcher. Some gouges to the wood on the arms and legs. Areas of loss to the frame mainly to the feet. Splits to the wood in areas. Evidence of old worm, mainly to the columns supporting the arms and to the legs. The stretcher has an old repair. Some areas of loss to the base of the columns supporting the arms. The upholstery has some small stains. General wear and tear commensurate with age and use. See photos for more details.
