Three silver plated ice buckets including a Reed & Barton twin handled example with banded Greek key decoration, height 22cm, and two urn shaped examples with cast decoration.Additional InformationOne of the urns is heavily tarnished and loss of plate at the top of the rim, body and foot, the other urn example is worn in places with the base metal nickel showing through. The Reed & Barton example has heavy losses to the plate with marks, scratches and dents throughout.

He was knighted in 1773 and elected Lord Mayor of London in 1776. His first wife, Penelope died within a year of their marriage. His second wife, Margaret passed away shortly after the birth of their second son. Sir Thomas died suddenly in the apartment above the bank having been unwell for the preceding four days. A pair of painted and gilt gesso wall appliqués,by John Johnson (1732-1814), late 18th century, in the manner of Robert Adam, each surmounted by anthemia and a classical urn over a moulded boss within trailing husks, supporting three scrolled arms and sconces over slender scrolls, a flower head and husks,84cm high (2)Provenance: The pavilion at Bradwell Lodge was built on the site of an earlier house by Henry Bate Dudley, a landowner and Member of Parliament, whose earlier career included a spell in Newgate Prison for libelling the Duke of Richmond; he may also have been involved in smuggling. The house is remote, near the Essex coast beyond Chelmsford, and is designed with a convenient all-seeing glass belvedere on the roof overlooking vast tracts of the flat Essex coastal plain.Architect, John Johnson, designed the elegant new pavilion and interiors very much in the style of Robert Adam and James Wyatt.In 1938 th,e house was purchased by Tom Driberg, the son of a retired Colonial official and public schoolboy, who, it is alleged, was a communist, devout Anglo-Catholic, KGB agent, M15 informant and homosexual. He received a substantial cheque from Guy Burgess in Moscow to tackle dry rot.Following Driberg's ownership and that of a group of left-wing Turkish dissidents, architect Quinlan Terry was called upon to mastermind its elegant restoration.Condition report: Splits and cracks to gesso as to be expected, gilding a little rubbed.Please view additional images
