A French mid 19th century ormolu mantel clock in Louis XVI style, the eight day striking movement, having a mauve porcelain circular dial with jewelling, above a putti decorated porcelain panel, the case surmounted by a covered urn, the sides with masks, the plinth on turned feet. 13in. (33cm).
A 30-hour longcase clock movement and dial, circa 1740, the four-pillar movement with anchor escapement and outside countwheel strike, the 10 inch square brass dial with arched calendar aperture to the matted centre within applied Roman numeral chapter ring with fleur de lys half-hour markers and signed 'Ashton, Ashburn' to lower edge, the angles with small urn pattern spandrels. Samuel Ashton is recorded in Baillie, G.H. 'Watchmakers and Clockmakers of the World' as working in Ashbourne circa 1753.

The cabinet having shallow breakfront terminating in bow glazed display cased sides and pillared supports above a stepped skirt and shallow fluted bun foot, the central door decorated with a pierced and carved foliate panel within low relief foliate borders and Classical urn decoration, the whole further highlighted with boxwood stringing and rosewood trim, 52.5" wide, 20" deep, 40.2" high.
