A PAIR OF GEORGE III COADE STONE STOUPS, early 19th century, of urn form, and oval section with everted rims and fluted bodies, the fronts each modelled with a swagged armorial shield bearing a cross potent, the reverses each with a rectangular attachment lug, on waisted socles, the rectangular bases each inscribed COADE. LONDON at one end, 26cm high x 33cm wide x 27cm deepNote: Eleanor Coade was born in Exeter in 1733, the daughter of a wool merchant. By the 1760s she was living in London and in 1769 she went into partnership with Daniel Pincot, who was already involved in producing artificial stone in south London. The pair soon fell out, and in 1771 Coade partnered instead with the sculptor John Bacon, whose accomplished designs and workmanship helped to establish the Coade Artificial Stone Company as the leading firm in its field. In an era when architectural embellishment was at its height and when Neoclassicism was the vogue, Coadestone became the must have dressing for the great houses of the land, and can still be seen in-situ at many sites

A straw-work layette tray, probably English, mid 18th century, plaited straw-work tray, hand-embroidered with scrolling border of large flowers to base and two-handled urn of flowers to detached top panel (latter backed with canvas), worked in polychrome silk threads, using mainly stem, satin, and long and short stitch, base sometime lined with machine-quilted pale blue cotton incorporating 2 ruche-edged pockets, worn, with holes in edges of faded lining, silk ribbon at corners of base perishing, and edge-fraying to top panel, embroidery with some losses but largely intact, 43 x 52 x 12cm (17 x 21 x 4.5ins)Qty: (1)NOTESAn extremely rare survival. Layette baskets served a practical purpose as a place to store up infant's clothes and accessories for a new arrival, but a highly decorative basket such as this also served to demonstrate the wealth of the family. Furthermore, at a time when many babies perished, it was believed that the more lavish the preparations, the greater the good fortune of the newborn would be.

A large Tree of Life block-printed cotton panel, probably Genoese, circa 1800, hand-blocked in red, brown, and green, on a cream cotton ground, centre with a large tree on a grassy mound, its undulating branches bearing a multitude of peonies and other flowers, and fruit, flanked by bamboo, and a flower-filled urn at each lower corner, the scene incorporating animals and birds, including a pair of monkeys, a peacock, a parrot, 2 zebras, an owl, and a pair of deer, the whole enclosed by a border of beribboned floral swags, toned and some water-staining, centre of tree with fabric perishing and some associated repairs, 9 x 5cm L-shaped tear, and another smaller, both to lower right, machine-stitched to a cream cotton backing, 260 x 238cmQty: (1)NOTESA mezzaro of almost identical design is in the collection of the V&A (accession no. An 18th Century Meissen “Swan Service” relief-work decorated blanc de chine tureen modelled by Johann Gotliebebder, the cover with recumbent nude and water urn overflowing, the main bowl with scrollwork handles and foliate decoration raised on a quadruped stylised dolphin foot base, 44 cm wide x 25.5 cm deep x 38 cm high, together with stand/dish, the centre field decorated with two swans and cranes amongst bulrushes within a shell decorated two-handled border, bears blue crossed swords mark under glaze (circa 1742), 54.5 cm wide x 36 cm deepCondition ReportStand - there is some chipping throughout, predominately in one place on the edge of the rim and some chips to the edges of the shell "handles", some firing faults, some discolouration and surface scratches, firing flaws where they have been supported in the kiln.  The lid finial in the form of a lady has a chip to her nose and various chips to the hands and feet as well as some rough areas to the hair.  There is a small firing flaw.  The tureen bowl has been broken in half and badly restored, handle has been off and badly restored, two feet have evidence of restoration to the base, some minor losses to the extremities, some firing flaws some of which have been attempted to be filled in during the restoration, all three sections are in need of a good clean.  Wear and tear conducive with age and use to include scratches etc.  See images for more details
