A pair of Victorian cast iron garden urns of campana form, the folded rims with egg and dart decoration over a reeded body to flared foot and square plinth base CONDITION REPORTS Approx 34.5 cm high x 55 cm diameter. Have been re-painted. Rusted to the interior. Various firing faults. One urn has two holes to the base of the bowl. General wear and tear conducive with age and use. A pair of George II brass petal base candlesticks, mid 18th century, the ribbed urn sconces leading to incised and multi-knopped stems, on spreading bases, one with intact 'push-rod' mechanism, 21cm high; a further pair of George II brass petal or scallop base candlesticks, mid 18th century, the urn sconces above slender stems each cast with a single knop, 23cm high; another pair of brass petal base candlesticks, mid 18th century, 20cm high; a further George II petal or 'shell' base candlestick, circa 1740-50, 24cm high; a further brass petal base candlestick, mid 18th century; and a brass petal base desk candlestick, 18th century CATALOGUE NOTES: The vertical brazing seams clearly visible across the stems and sockets of several candlesticks in the present lot are the result of 18th century developments in brass casting. Instead of forming candlesticks from several solid cast sections, founders took to casting stems in two thin, vertical halves, which were then soldered together. This allowed for more intricate and decorative designs often modelled on examples in silver.Several very similar pairs were also sold at Christie's New York, 'Property from the Collection of Benjamin F. Hermès ''Les Jardiniers du Roy'' Silk Scarf, Designed by Maurice Tranchant, printed centrally with a large arrangement of flowers in an urn, surrounded by gardeners, within a green border printed with further flowers, 90cm square, with box and cardboard sleeve; a Christian Dior Silk Scarf, printed with capuchin monkeys amongst tropical flowers and leaves, 88cm square; and a Lladro Silk Scarf, printed with herons amongst reeds, rushes and tiger lilies next to a pond, 88cm square (3). Hermes scarf and box - in good condition, paper within box with staining and cardboard sleeve with some lifting and tears to flaps. Christian Dior scarf - with some pink ink stains near left hand monkey, some other light stains, overall wear. Lladro scarf - some light wear and loose threads to rolled hem.
