A mid 18th century infantry officer’s sword, flattened octagonal section blade 32½”, with brass inlaid “Vive le Roi” on both sides near forte, steel semi basket guard, with heart shaped base bars and quillon, knucklebow with 2 loops on each side, rounded urn pommel, wirebound fishskin grip. Basically GC for age with dark patina (blade heavily pitted and worn, one side loop fractured). Plate 5
