NINETEENTH CENTURY FRENCH GILT-METAL AND PORCELAIN MANTEL CLOCK GARNITURE. Movement by Japy Freres of Paris. Circular floral decorated porcelain dial with Roman numerals, surmounted with a porcelain and gilt metal urn finial, flanked to either side with two cherubs. Outside count wheel which strikes a steel bell. Conforming base with gilt plinth. TOGETHER with a pair of matching urns with fixed covers and ornate gilt metal mounts, in the form of female mask and floral swags. On a conforming base. The clock, 14.5” (37cm) high x 13.5” (34cm) wide. The urns, 13.5” (34cm) high. (3)
A VERY FINE LATE NINETEENTH CENTURY BRASS BED, 5ft (156cm) wide. The head with an arrangement of brass urns within tubular rails, and scrolls, and two large urn finials, with spiral fluted sections, bulbous centres, and a conforming footboard, with similar decoration, with urns within tubular rails and conforming urn finials. Provenance: Originally from Cashel Palace, Cashel, Co. Tipperary. (1)
AN ATTRACTIVE THREE PIECE FRENCH GILT METAL MANTEL CLOCK GARNITURE, the clock movement with outside count wheel, striking on a steel bell, with two handled urn finial. The circular porcelain dial with roman numerals and the centre panel depicting a landscape, crested above with a ribbon bow and the drum with hanging floral swags and leaf sprays, on a conforming breakfront base. 12.5" (32cm). Together with a pair of matching porcelain and gilt metal mounted urns, each on four legs. 13" (33cm). (3)
AN UNUSUAL LATE NINETEENTH AND EARLY TWENTIETH CENTURY CARVED WALNUT WALL CLOCK/ BAROMETER. The arched top with a cartouche crest, and two urn finials, above a circular dial with raised enamel Roman numerals, and a centre enamel thermometer and aneroid barometer below, within leaf carved scrolls and a central shell, 59.5" (100cm) high x 18" (46cm) wide. Centre profusely inlaid with musical trophies and foliage, on burl walnut panel within satinwood parquetry ground and a further band of scrolling foliage. With a frieze drawer and raised on four ornate brass mounted tapering fluted legs, united by an X-shaped stretcher with central urn. On four brass feet. 30" (76cm) high x 56" (142cm) wide x 31.5" (80cm) deep. (1)
A FINE 19TH CENTURY EBONISED AND BRASS-INLAID CENTRE TABLE, the rectangular top with bow-shaped ends, the centre inlaid in brass with a central urn issuing leaf and flower sprays, above a conforming frieze with one long drawer decorated in similar inlay, on four fluted brass-mounted legs, united by an X-shaped stretcher, 50.5" (128cm) wide, 29" (45cm) deep. A LARGE EDWARDIAN WALNUT CHIFFONIER OR SIDEBOARD, with swan neck pediment and urn finial above a moulded cornice, and a shelf with recessed mirror plate and three ring-turned columns, above an octagonal mirror plate, flanked to either side with a shelf, carved panels and further mirrors, the base with three frieze drawers, two cupboards and recessed vacant compartment, flanked with arched and carved panel doors, raised on short turned legs, 100" (256cm) high, 7ft" (213cm) wide. Green and claret round, decorated with sprigged mouldings with the 12 signs of the zodiac to its frieze, with two medallions showing portraits of Classical maidens, having flower festoons and a band of stiff leaves to the pedestal. Impressed Wedgwood, 24.5cm. Condition Report. To be used as a guide only. Cover missing. Both handles broken off and lacking. Flat chip to the foot.
A 19th century Neo-Classical carved mahogany urn shaped tea caddy. With brass finial, lion mask handles and raised on four ball and claw feet, 32cm. Condition Report. To be used as a guide only. Area of loss to the timber near the finial. Feet slightly misshapen preventing the piece from sitting square.
A RARE EXHIBITION TURQUOISE AND YELLOW GLAZED LINTHORPE JARDINIERE ON STAND OF LARGE SIZE DESIGNED BY CHRISTOPHER DRESSER of striking design having an Egyptian style urn-shaped top with stylised feather and floral decoration, the circular base decorated with sunflowers. Both stamped Linthorpe, the top numbered 2253 and the base 2058 133cm high overall. There is a small rim chip to the top edge of the base. One of the handles has had some restoration and there is a star crack to the inside.
