A pair of French gilt-bronze figural candlesticks,In the manner of Corneille van Cleve, late 19th century,One modelled with a seated and draped male figure holding a cornucopia, the other with a female figure holding a foliate and ribbon-tied floral cornucopia, with shaped drip-pan and urn socket, above a gadrooned spreading base with entrelac and rosette border, 33.6cm high (2) Provenance: Purchased from Kraemer, Paris, 1950s. Footnotes:Note: These candlesticks are a variant of the celebrated model by Corneille van Clève (1646-1732). The original drawings were once originally attributed to Charles Le Brun (1619-1690) but are now thought to be by van Clève and are held in the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin. The strapwork and entrelac bases of these candlesticks are identical to those on a pair of early 18th Century candlesticks in the Wallace Collection, illustrated in F.J.B. George White for Royal Doulton "Leda and the Swan" Urn Circa 1910, with gilt highlights and bands of pale green enamel, raised square section base, signed, printed Doulton Burslem England factory mark in green to base.33cm high overallPrivate collection, Staffordshire.Very small flaw to area beneath finial on cover where there has been a small air bubble or blister exposing the white body, some slight rubbing to gilt, more pronounced wear where the lower section has rubbed against the body; sporadic, small surface scratches, only noticeable against the overall effect when specifically looked for; two small hairlines to knop section of stem, appear to be restricted to this area; otherwise general minor rubbing of gilt to tips of handles and upper corners of base, minor glaze inclusions and specks, light dust and dirt.

Slightly cloudy at the bottom potentially due to water damage/calcium deposits. Some marks where the grip/lid previously was. Evidence of this in additional images.

Beautiful Meissen white porcelain urn vase decorated with a turquoise-blue background and with gilt accents. The handles are shaped as double crossed snakes that are gilded. The Rococo shaped floral compositions features chrysanthemums and foliage. Blue crossed swords mark on base with model numbers: E. 158. 79. A 19thC French 8 day mantel clock, the gilt dial with acanthus scroll and foliate detail. The movement striking on a bell and stamped H. L. F., numbered 1307, and with Louis Japy Fils Medailles d'Argent 1844-1849 stamp. The clock case engraved with floral and foliate detail surmounted by a pedestal urn and on an ovoid base, sat within a glass dome and decorated with foliage, birds and insects, on an ebonised base containing a musical movement.
